Good for a quick low voltage, low power connection but I sincerely hate these being a go-to for anything higher power (>20W) or current (>2A). The solder ring used is a low-temperature variant for ease of use but if you ever have heat in this connection again it can remelt leaving no mechanical connection between your wires aside from hot polyolefin and hot adhesive. The solder can also wick up the wire further than intended causing the connection to be brittle and easily stressed. Just use crimped connections especially where power, current, vibrations, and/or abrasion meets.

Agree. Also, I tried using them on a 12 AWG connection and it was absolutely useless as the copper core would pierce through.

I have hundreds of these in use in an automated ws2811 Christmas light setup. They work wonderfully all 12v and under.

When I work on card I'm weird, paranoid and don't trust these for the solder. I don't want to be broken down on a highway because a low temp solder joint didn't hold (granted you're supposed to twist the wires too, but still). So I'll solder the wires as I normally would and then use these as a "protective barrier" instead of electrical tape. Then I know I'm getting a good connection and that the connection is being protected by the elements. Anything else, like a lawnmower, I just use these.

I don't really see these as the best option for electrical work when you have the time and tools to do it right, but it's a great addition to a toolbox for track days, road trips etc. where things can go wrong away from the usual workspace. Had the great (dis)pleasure of dropping a transmission on the side of our AirBNB during a trip to the Dragon and a sensor wire snapped in the process and one of these and a lighter was all we needed to get my friend home.

Basically these are useful for low voltage stuff that needs to be waterproof like trailer or other automotive wiring. You're not using these at home.

Used to use solder splices in the aerospace industry, although I'm sure the ones in the factory were much higher quality. But a good quality solder splice works perfectly fine for low power applications

agree, used them on my 3d printer, where wires "move" a bunch and found the solder is cheap and cracks easily, going to have to re-wire and not use these. and by move, i just mean back and forth, not like a hard flex or anything. so as convenient as they are, I can't recommend.

I've got these from the last deal and all went into garbage, like most of the box. These connectors absolutely do not make a reliable soldered connection, in 95% of all cases they make something that only looks ok but do not hold and do not pass good current. There is nothing worse than to use it for car wiring only to redo failed connections later on. Avoid this junk

This is not a deal. It's usually this price per CCC.
