1) Make sure there is no active subscription.
3) Buy enough to cover 3 years ( 3 years is maximum gold one can have on an account) .
4) Redeem those Gold keys so your account has 3 years of active gold subscription
5) buy the cheapest available game pass ultimate . Search gamepass ultimate on xbox.com, you could get the $1 offer
6) Redeem game pass ultimate on the account
7) it will popup a message stating all your gold will be converted to game pass ultimate
8) click yes
9) enjoy game pass ultimate for those 3 years

It's good for a no hassle approach. You can save a lot more if do the VPN trick (buy cheap Brazil or Turkey codes when they're available, use a VPN) or wait for the next time the "use smaller time period codes that are cheap right now and hope you get offered a free month every time you turn on and then off auto renewal" trick comes back around. Both of those methods run some risk to varying degrees.

Unfortunately the days of $30 1-yr XBL gold died when GPU launched.

What's the cheapest ppl have gotten the gold conversion hack to work with usa region codes only?

I am wondering if $150 is worth it for 3 years of gamepass ultimate

I think it is. Now I'm stuck adding to my existing because I assume that conversion won't last forever. (Although it's been going on for years now)

Check under subscriptions to confirm what service they have either on the console or on the website. Then stop paying monthly and get a year. The monthly payments cost so much more than the year it's crazy. Use that saved money to buy yourself something you enjoy.

Xbox newb here, looking for my teen son. I know there is some way to buy this (maybe 3 of them?) and then convert it to the game pass, but I am super clueless. Would anyone be willing to walk me through it like a middle aged woman who doesn't play video games? Or link me where to learn? I get him a year of Xbox live every Christmas so I know his is about to expire. Thank you so much!!

$50 for 3 years of GPU from buying nine 3 month codes from Eneba when they are on sale and using the auto renewal trick. This was back in June of this year.

It works on any , I suggested 3 years as that is the best value for the buck as of now. You can get it to work on 1 year too

There are rumors about changes to gold subscription along with prices etc hence might be a good idea to get max and lock it down.
Ofcourse on the flip side they could also add a cheaper tier with ads
