I got the 55" version of this TV from Best Buy this past weekend. This is by FAR the best TV I've ever had. The screen is amazing with the brightness, colors and black levels. I usually just get the best budget TV that I can get every time. But decided to spend a couple hundred extra this time and I'm super glad that I did.

Some complaints from reviews that I've seen seem to be all cleared up for me. Google TV hasn't had any issues so far and is quick to get used to after having Roku TV for several years. The complaints about upcoverting seem to be true. But one thing that not too many people mention is that there is an auto mode selector where the TV figures out what is the best picture mode for your lighting and the current signal from whatever broadcast or streaming source. I've learned to use that and just tinker with the color and backlight brightness of the modes that it selects because it is usually spot on. Before doing that I had the same complaint about some content not being upconverted too great. With that pretty much every thing that I watch looks beautiful. There's not a whole lot to really think about. If you see this TV with a good deal just get it.

The extra diming zones makes it with 99 more. Trust me.

If this is supposed to be a slightly better upgrade than the U8G, then it's a damn good TV.

Showing it'll ship to me in February. Any idea when they'll actually charge my card? Is it right away or when it ships?

I'm someone who lost the panel lottery on their U8H. It was terrible, so just put it through it's paces as soon as you get it to see if you have the posterization issues that some of them have. If not then you're looking at a great TV for the price.

I ultimately got rid of mine and went with a Sony A80J (that was replaced by Sony for A80K) for about $700.

How'd you score an a80j for $700? Not went front page a month ago at $1k. I'd love to get one for $700.

$780 or so open box. Got it home and worked for 20 minutes. Best Buy refunded me 10% and Sony replaced it with an A80K. Rough math but basically that.

I think it supposed to be a major upgrade over the U8G since this is their first mini-led TV which is the latest LED local dimming technology. It's pretty much the closest you can get to OLED without being OLED. The contrast and blacks are really great. The Dolby vision videos are especially stunning.

After everything I had went through up to that point, I felt it was pretty fair! Overall I'm happy.

But to just talk about the U8H more, I really liked it at first but the posterization was insane on mine. You can see the images on my review on Best Buy. (Lightning) This was not something that could be fixed by software. It also has abysmal macro blocking in dark scenes of lower quality, so just be aware of that as well. Lastly it has fairly mediocre motion handling and shimmering with certain patterns in movement. If that doesn't bother you, or your panel doesn't exhibit these issues, then it will be worthwhile.

I do not believe the 65in and larger have the posterization issues like many of the 55in do.

oh and it does not actually give you true 4k while in 120hz mode with games. It halves the vertical resolution as the SOC cannot handle it.
