Hello, I hope you're well.

Tesla is offering certain customers a $7,500 discount and 10,000 Supercharger credits if they take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y by 12/31/2022. Check your text message; here is an example.

Yesterday, I posted about how the Model 3 RWD and Model Y will qualify for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) $7,500 if you take delivery in January or February 2023 (of course, if Tesla runs promotions or drop prices in early 2023, there could be better savings then). This is better in several major ways:
  • Lower sales tax because this is a discount, not a tax credit
  • You get the discount immediately, instead of having to wait until 2024 when you file taxes for 2023
  • You get 10,000 Supercharger credits, which is valued at between $500 and $900
  • If you're financing, you don't have to pay interest on the $7,500
  • (For some people) If you didn't qualify for the tax credit due to being over the income limit, you don't have to worry about that at all
  • 12/29/2022 UPDATE: IRS published its list [irs.gov], and some vehicles will not qualify for the tax credit that starts in 2023; of note, Model Y 5-Seat does not qualify because it passes the $55,000 limit, whereas the Model Y 7-Seat does qualify because it is below the $80,000 limit.
  • 01/04/2022 UPDATE: The 10,000 Supercharger miles (which is actually 4,000 kWH) have been added to the Tesla App. Check Settings > Loot Box.
Author's Note: This is a deal thread, not a political thread or a thread for people who dislike Tesla. Please refrain from going off topic or thumbing down this thread. You have every right to hate Tesla and its CEO, but please don't thumb down a thread related to Tesla simply because of that. Slickdeals is a deal-hunting forum above all else, and I'd greatly appreciate it if we treat threads in Hot Deals as deal threads and nothing else. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

I think when Tsla 1st came out they had great service and tried to fix your issues, now they are still having production issues and even shipping cars without items that should be standard on the cars aka ( usb charging ports ) and not saying anything to the customer until they ask why this item is missing from the car and they say it was "Back Ordered" Meantime, MR 44 Billion man is spending more time on other projects / companies when his money maker is slowly sinking. He needs to do is make start up companies and sell them, since he acts like all the companies he made are stepping stones and on to the next, don't worry about the past. I still say 44bn would have been a great start for a space station or moon base, since our epic US government is now having to use his spacex company, how sad is that.

I had my car serviced a couple of times and nothing but stellar experience. The technicians were knowledgable and very nice.
Likewise. All service performed at my home scheduled via the Tesla app. Super convenient.

Too bad there's no standard range Model 3 in stock... only custom built but still shows December delivery possibly.

If it's not delivered this year can we get a refund?

Those thinking about EV, specifically model 3, recently got a BMW i4 M50 and man it's an amazing car. 76K fully loaded and qualifies for this years tax rebate. Recognize it's more expensive but after rebate I think the premium is well worth it. Night and day in terms of quality and performance
It's great until you roadtrip a non-Tesla, when you have to rely on Electrify America. Although I never tried any Tesla so I can't really speak of it, but experiencing a roadtrip back in November 2022 on my VW ID.4, charging was a pain going from NorCal to SoCal when half the chargers at the station is broken and/or long queues in busy spots.

I'm looking to go back to hybrid/ICE cars in the near future... But Tesla $7,500 discount caught my attention, though I still doubt I'll buy one.

This deal is way better than next years 7500 tax credit because your reducing your sales tax a few hundred dollars on top of the 7500 dollar credit.

This deal is insanely good. It's better than next years 7500 EV tax credit because your taking 7500 credit from tesla right now and then getting a sales tax reduction for several hundred dollars with 10k free supercharging miles. You're pretty much getting like 8000+ off depending on what state your in.

And the Model 3 wasn't going to qualify under the new law, anyways (>$55K).

Plus, you don't have to worry about the income limits that are restricted under the law.

This is even better deal than getting $7500 tax credit next year since it's coming off the price of the car (less cash outlay). Must resist. Need to wait for the Cybertruck.

Model 3 AWD is ~350 mile range - real world is 280 mils (charging to 80%)

BMW i4 M50 is 270 mile range - real world is 216 miles (charging to 80%)

I've been driving the 2018 Model 3 RWD Long Range and I charge to 80% (~246 mile range) and always would like a little more range, especially in cold weather (like these days). I also keep sentry mode on when it's not parked at home and I run my heater before I get in the car and while I drive around.

More range is always better. And place to charge (ease of charging) is great (been to Canada 3 different times (Montreal and Quebec)and never had to worry about finding a charger).
