Hello, I hope you're well.

Tesla is offering certain customers a $7,500 discount and 10,000 Supercharger credits if they take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y by 12/31/2022. Check your text message; here is an example.

Yesterday, I posted about how the Model 3 RWD and Model Y will qualify for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) $7,500 if you take delivery in January or February 2023 (of course, if Tesla runs promotions or drop prices in early 2023, there could be better savings then). This is better in several major ways:
  • Lower sales tax because this is a discount, not a tax credit
  • You get the discount immediately, instead of having to wait until 2024 when you file taxes for 2023
  • You get 10,000 Supercharger credits, which is valued at between $500 and $900
  • If you're financing, you don't have to pay interest on the $7,500
  • (For some people) If you didn't qualify for the tax credit due to being over the income limit, you don't have to worry about that at all
  • 12/29/2022 UPDATE: IRS published its list [irs.gov], and some vehicles will not qualify for the tax credit that starts in 2023; of note, Model Y 5-Seat does not qualify because it passes the $55,000 limit, whereas the Model Y 7-Seat does qualify because it is below the $80,000 limit.
  • 01/04/2022 UPDATE: The 10,000 Supercharger miles (which is actually 4,000 kWH) have been added to the Tesla App. Check Settings > Loot Box.
Author's Note: This is a deal thread, not a political thread or a thread for people who dislike Tesla. Please refrain from going off topic or thumbing down this thread. You have every right to hate Tesla and its CEO, but please don't thumb down a thread related to Tesla simply because of that. Slickdeals is a deal-hunting forum above all else, and I'd greatly appreciate it if we treat threads in Hot Deals as deal threads and nothing else. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

I took home delivery from BP last night. Driver let me know he was coming. Waited for him outside. He TOLD me to inspect the inside and outside before I clicked the accept delivery button. Was outside with a flashlight lol. This is my second Tesla and the car was fine. Much better than 2019 days. Only found one issue, minor paint chip in an obscure place.
Will they fix it?

So an update to my dilemma… looks like they found my Y… it ended up in Buena Park for some reason….which no one's was able to offer an explanation. So skipping all the shadiness/incompetence/non-transparent business model… they will home deliver my Y tomorrow. Crossing fingers it comes thru. And I'll be inspecting the car in the rain most likely. They said I can't go inside of the car until I take delivery so outside inspection only. I'm so tired of their attitude/take it or leave it/snob attitude. Tesla is like the hot girl from afar but as you get closer her demeanor/attitude makes her look ugly as hell.
I totally get how you feel. It's like when I snagged the Black Friday door buster 85" OLED for $199 that everyone else in line wanted too but then found out the box had a scratch on it and it totally ruined the whole experience.

Come on man you're getting $7500 be happier.

Picked up my Y 12/24. Love the car! As long as you have insurance, u can pick up. I just had to show them my insurance info and get Tesla insured within 10 days. I ended up going through Tesla insurance (double my 2021 Lexus Hybrid) but cheaper than all the quotes I was getting. A few minor issues but they are coming to my house to make the corrections. So far no issues with their CS. Order in May so locked in lower price and got the $7.5K discount.

Picked my M3LR up in NJ on the 29th. The car is great. The front hood stoppers just needed to be adjusted a bit as it was set a little low. I inspected further back at home and made a service appointment for them to check a gap on the rear passenger window. It might be fine, but wanted to call it out within the 24 hours from pickup per my advisors recommendation. Coming from a 2021 bmw 330 and no regrets…really impressed by the build and ride quality.

Does anyone know stipulations for picking up in Bay Area and registering in Oregon ???? I'm an Oregon resident
Yes.
You will pay bay area use tax ( california law). Other than that no different than buying in OR.

Dude just don't buy one if you're going to be so unhappy before you even get the car. Lots of other people happily buy it. Be happy and just cancel.
As a true SDer, I'm taking this deal just like any other. I'm not happy nor unhappy, just trying to get exactly what I negotiated - a Tesla that's built to spec without any quality issue at the price that I agreed upon. Thanks for your advice as if at any point I felt I should walk away, I will definitely do so. I'm just trying to share my experience dealing with Tesla, if this annoys you, please just ignore.

With that said, I just got notified by Tesla via text that they are pushing back my appointment from 1PM to 7PM because the car has not arrived yet. I asked them to call me to discuss, but they refused. The saga continue....

One additional point: Tesla took my full payment 3 days ago and my Bank has settled the transaction yesterday. Is it normal for Tesla to take your money first without delivering the car? I was expecting that they would hold my money and clear it on the day of delivery like other online purchases.

If anyone is still looking to buy you can still get it if the inventory shows available to pick up. I just booked and got everything done in one hour in Bay Area. Waiting for Delivery appointment.

Now i started seeing Model 3 available in stock in some of the places in nor cal.
BTW, based on my ViN decode, it is a 2023 model. There has been lot of rumors about the new 2023 Model 3, does that mean these new ones are the updated 2023 model, or just the same as last year?

Why don't you just play along and maybe they'll deliver you the car Monday at today's price and you get the tax credit too. Make lemonade…
