So many power outages in my city in wi this winter with bad ice storms. I may need a generator when I have to buy an EV one day.

What runs the fuel pump when the powers out?

Because it hits the mark where he seems concerned about something that is in the distant future but anyone with any sense can see how dismissive it is.

It's a quality execution; double entendre intended

I bought a Durostar 4000w gas generator off of woot last year for $300 or so and finally had to use it this weekend when we lost power for 17 hours. It powered up a couple large space heaters and my saltwater aquarium heaters to keep everything from freezing to death. While this isn't the same model, I recommend anyone who experiences routine power outages have a generator to keep things going and one this size will keep a couple rooms warm and running.

Yep it's a must for the frequent hard freeze states. I am in Texas and I also have one. Just a tip, if you have a Gas central heater for that house, you could get an electrician to wire you a special circuit box that allow you to use the generator. This generator has enough wattages to start the gas heater for some reason

You have no idea how long an outage is going to be until it's over. However, even though I need a generator, but I can't arse myself to actually buy one.

Something that is a lot easier to do, is to remember "don't eat yellow snow".

1. How do you know that it DOES have enough wattage to start a particular gas furnace.
2. Any idea what an electrician would charge to complete that job?

1. A buddy of mine is the electrician and he said it can be done with the 4000s ish wattages for my size of heater. I tested it for 30 minutes and it's fine. He said that it need nearly 4000 watts to start and about 600 watts to continue run.

2 the special interlock circuit box costed me 350$ and I just pay my friend the beers and some food lol. However he said typical charge for it is around 150$ labor. This is for Texas.

I got one of these 4 yrs ago and use 2-3x a yr. We're typically without power for less than 24 hrs. Use exclusively on propane to avoid carb issues and it has been flawless, keep a $20 maintainer on the battery and it's good to go.
