Cheaper and can use DDR4 and Z690 from last year. but similar performance. [youtu.be]

A souped up 12900, only 10% faster.

Worst part is, it's only 15% faster than the $200 12600k
13700kf has more cache also

I have both the 12600k and now the 13700k, it has many more cores and thus for things that take advantage of multi core(vms, productivity, running a lot of things simultaneously like you would do for streaming) it is considerably faster(more like double). If all you are doing is gaming or running single apps that don't take advantage of multicore, yea the the raw clock speed and cache improvements probably only net you an extra 15%, in which case you would be better off using cash to upgrade your gpu instead.

Waiting for CES to see if AMD announces new x3D CPUs, then I'll decide what to buy.

Based on Cinebench, the 13700kf has a 76% advantage over the 12600k. Passmark gives it a 69% advantage. Geekbench comes in at 81%. I don't know what benchmark you are looking at for a 15% difference, but those are the most widely accepted benchmarks, and they all come in way higher than 15%.

So don't upgrade until equipment dies or is at least 8y old.

Higher boost clocks and double the E-cores and more cache

i5 12600k 6P/4E > i5 13600k 6P/8E
i7 12700k 8P/4E > i7 13700k 8P/8E
i9 12900k 8P/8E > i9 13900k 8P/16E

Video editing, absolutely. Photo editing, depending on what you do and how well It's multithreaded, probably. The multithreaded performance is where 13th gen flexes on 12th gen.

This is faster in gaming and multi-thread, supports faster DDR5 kits (and cheap DDR4), cheaper last gen motherboards (Z690, B660), and is cheaper itself. This is by far the better processor and deal.
