i was playing Age of Empires II when i was in 4th grade...

im 34 and frequently return to it...

one of if not the greatest RTS ever imo...

loved Warcraft 3, Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations, AoE 1 and even 4, Company of Heroes, C&C ,Starcraft ,

but AoE II will always be it for me

Great game. All these are included for PC if you have xbox game pass. You have to use the windows store version though. All the Definitive editions are excellent!

Have been playing on and off working through the campaigns on hard. If you play the campaigns in the order of release date, it'd be quite a while before you need any of the expansion packs.
Most people play for the multiplayer aspects of it, so yeah, expect to pay another $20 (or more if you buy from Steam) for the expansions.
