Bought an EB Superior Down Parka two years ago after my NF McMurdo encountered a mishap with bleach.
EB was on sale and half the price of a new McMurdo parka at that time.
The EB parka still looks brand new (wear three to five days a week in the winter, on and off all day) and has kept me just as warm as the NF. Price is what drove me to try the EB. I'd say the quality of the EB parka is similar to that of the NF.
I'd never pay full price for EB, but than again I'd never pay full price for NF.
This is a good deal for a good NF coat, but if you are on a budget and want a quality item- check out EB.
EB always offers $10 off coupons- I'd suggest looking for one to make the deal sweeter.

Pros:
650-fill. I also have an EB store locally so returning would be easy
Cons:
If it was 30 less I'd jump on it, donno reduction of quality over the NF is worth 70$

Just responded to his question.
I think it's personal preference.
Both are good coats and will keep you warm during Midwestern winters.
I liked my North Face McMurdo Parka and equally like my Eddie Bauer Superior down Parka.
I don't think you can go wrong with either coat. They look similar, similar fill- 600 fill (NF) vs 650 fill (EB) and IMO seem to be of similar quality. Only difference is price (EB wins), and color choices. However, NF has better "street cred", which might mean better resale value?!
Whatever you decide to purchase should keep you warm this winter and future Midwest Winters.
I don't work for EB or NF, but do love a good Jacket.

Anytime I visit www.eddiebauer.
In "private or incognito mode" either a pop up appears for $10 off or a clickable button appears when I start scrolling the Home Screen.
If you sign up for their Adventure reward program, they will automatically give you a $5 credit. Link below;

Edit/Add- They seem to send me a $10 off coupon weekly via email. Unfortunately just used this weeks to buy a pair of gloves for my kiddo.
So buy a $100 gift card via email, receive a $20 coupon code.
Thus you would get $20 off.
Use the gift card and credit to purchase the EB Jacket and pay the remaining cost.
Downside is if you don't like the jacket and return it, you will be stuck with a $100 EB gift card (+ $20 credit)
