Ic4 has no built in tablet/screen, so you are free to use whatever app you prefer.

Sorry, can you help me understand how this Peloton trial applies to this Schwinn bike? (actual question, not snark lol)
Bike is app agnostic and can be run with the Peloton app. Need a screen though and it works better with IOS products (Peloton not the bike).

My wife and I have been using an IC4 for 2.5 years now and have put ~300 combined rides on it now. It's built super well and I'd really reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a spin cycle for home use.

We've used it nearly exclusively with Peloton and it's been a great way to sneak in a workout over lunch or when the weather outside is too frightful.

The resistance is not the same numerically to Peloton but conversion charts are available online or can be bought from Etsy. Common complaints that I've read about (and experienced) are a knocking sound from the left pedal. The important things there are to install it carefully (it threads the opposite way as normal), to tighten the pedals periodically (once every month+ has been plenty), and at times to tighten the whole crank arm assembly with a socket.

I've used both this and a peloton bike and this one feels sturdier in my (biased) opinion, but you need to provide your own screen to use and apps (tablet, phone, or cast to a TV). The peloton definitely feels more like a premium experience, but this bike is much cheaper upfront and the monthly class fees are also substantially cheaper.

In for one. I was in the market for an indoor bike and this looks decent.
Amazon ships a lot faster than Best Buy, so I went with them.

The Schwinn IC4 is compatible with the Peloton App (and Zwift) I just ordered this bike and plan to try out both the included JRNY app as well as Peloton.

Dang $500 still? I scooped that Target deal up in July for the Bowflex C7 and with coupons and cb paid $220. I figured at least <$350 would be new norm.

I've used mine weekly and it's amazing!

It has been $500 a bunch of times. Only once $280 at target. You got very luck. Unless there is a brand new model coming out I doubt it will hit that price again.

Question: Schwinn IC4 or Echelon EX-4S+ at Costco? Same price. IC4 is native Peloton compatible and does not come with a large touchscreen LCD; EX-4S+ needs a simple hack to be Peloton compatible and has a 15.6" screen.
Grab the Echelon Connect Sport if Walmart sells it for $280 again. You can put Peloton on it and at least you don't have to worry about the pedals falling off like with the Schwinn. It requires some tech savvy but I've put about 200 miles a week on mine and works perfectly.

With how frequent this item goes on sale for 499, it's almost like its an everyday price now. And its a reasonable price but its not a great deal by any means. But that 999 msrp is a joke in the current times...Might as well buy a Peloton. But expect pricing to be more aggressive come springtime when people go out more.

I bought both recently and had them side by side. The EX-4s+ is a slightly better built bike. In putting them together you could feel the metal was thicker and stronger. The seat post was more secure. The knobs to tighten were easier and better quality. The pedals were much smoother turning, better ball bearings. The pedals have long thread and a nut inside so they can never loosen. That being said the IC4 is not bad quality at all, I'd give it a 7 and the Echelon an 8 maybe 8.5 in built quality
As far as the smart part of the IC4 it sends out info over bluetooth using the FTMS (fitness machine protocol). So any app that accepts it can display cadence, speed, estimated power, distance, etc. The EX-4s+ only sends it metrics by bluetooth to its own screen. It can be hacked with some software to do a bunch of things like add other apps to the screen (its basically a low level android tablet).
Both are very decent bikes for a good price.
