Does this promotion require that you only use points or can you use points and pay the remaining balance with your Discover card? What happens if you don't have enough points available for a particular purchase?

Best way to use these promos if you don't have anything to buy right away is the eGift cards for stores like Safeway or best buy or whatever stores you prefer that Amazon sells.

You can pay any amount with points and the rest with your credit card. Generally, I pay $1 with the points and the rest with the credit card so that I don't use up all my rewards points in case there is a deal like this in future.

You can use as little as 1pt and pay the rest off with the card. I've only seen one exception where an offer required you to use a minimum number of pts. But that's only happened to me once in the many offers I've seen throughout the years.
