Refurbished unit, Retina display 4k. Usually good 4k panel would be more than this, so this is like buying a display and then getting a usable computer for free. Would be good for lite tasks and movie/video watching. Supposedly has one year warranty as well.

https://www.backmarket.com/en-us/...323c6#l=12

Edit: this may not work well as an external display. Can consider Luna display as an option, or for those of you guys who's adventurous, can do hardware modification with sounding like this https://youtu.be/0VXQu0fAc8s

Perhaps they mean that this deal is less wasteful after Linux is installed.

Normally I would agree.
But for $225 and considering it will run macOS Venture (certainly the last fully supported macOS), this is a great value, especially for a kid, or family member that needs just general computing and media consumption.

Understood, and I use OCLP on an old 2009 i7 iMac.
However, if you're going to give this to a kid/novice user, I'd prefer to stick with officially supported macOS, just because OCLP occasionally misbehaves and I don't feel like being perpetual tech support on a $225 computer.

And you can use it as a cheap retina monitor for your macbook. I tried $100 monitors from HP but it suck with mac. Sometimes i miss how simple things are if you aren't sucked into Apple ecosystem

Seems like a fair price. RAM upgrade is actually possible, but difficult [youtube.com].
