You are correct. They don't connect end to end. They also come in 2 strings of 300 connected to the controller. Each strand has several feet of lead between the controller and where the lights start.
Those are pixels. Not twinkly
Still buyer beware. At least Twinkly seems a bit more likely to survive than some of the other brands.
Are there any open source controllers for any brands of "smart lights?" Would be nice to control from a PC etc. as well as knowing you can use them without apps.

Also, unless you already have Twinkly RGBs, you may be better off getting the RGB+W which costs just slightly more for the 600 count:

Their main downside is that you'll need to match them and RGB+W is harder to find on sale but they do look warmer than RGBs based on online reviews.
