Now, make it monitor water chemistry, and I'm in!

In my experience, the non-smart ones consistently failed within 2 seasons due to water intrusion, regardless of the waterproof ratings. Something about being in a chlorine water environment 24/7, outside, blasted with sun and rain, and going through freeze/thaw cycle makes electronics fail quickly; who knew?

So what I've been doing is I've been buying the 3 or 4 year extended Asurion warranty for like $8 with my purchase on Amazon and claiming failure when they inevitably fail. The way I see it, I'm effectively paying $4/year to operate this.

That being said, I fully also expect this product to fail within 2 seasons, so while I'm super interested (since I have a ton of Govee sensors), I'm going to wait until it's available on Amazon with the extended warranty.

Could this go in a hot tub? Would be nice to know if I remembered to lower the temp after getting out in a drunken stupor.

I stopped being lazy, looked it up. Hot tubs and bath tubs are well suited for this!

Hopefully this goes to the Govee app sooner rather than later and I can use some of my stockpiled points

We paid $34 for a non-smart no name but solar powered one that just has a little station with the temp +min/max and inside as well. Has lasted a year so far of being left in salt water pool 24/7. I'm quite dubious of govee's 3 year batter life claim (from only 2 AAA batteries??? No way) and really wish they'd do direct wifi connect rather than yet another hub

Will never do that well without proper chemicals stored in it and most of them would not do well in the sun constantly.

You'd need some kind of micro lab embedded in it to replicate a true test kit

They have devices that do this, but they are around $400 and you have to buy kits for them monthly to be able to continue testing water. Basically a subscription to the chemicals.
