Samsung doesn't want to pay the Dolby Vision licensing fee, so none of their devices (TVs, phones, tablets, etc.) have support, and have never had support. They're pushing HDR10+ instead, which is a free standard, I think, and basically the same capabilities-wise. Normally, I would applaud that, but Dolby Vision has won the HDR format war, so not supporting it in 2022 is kind of asinine.

The Samsung S95B QD-OLED has a better picture (richer colors, higher brightness) than the LG C2 and even G2 BUT has developed a bit of a bad reputation for quality control issues.

The Sony A95K is also QD-OLED and has (arguably) the best picture AND good quality control but is likely to be more expensive.

The LG C2/G2 (as well as B2/A2) use tried and true WRGB OLED technology, and offer an excellent combination of good picture quality and the best gaming features on the market.

At this price the S95B is a great TV... just make sure you can return it if you have problems and probably consider buying an extended warranty with generous terms.

Recently received one with dead pixels and a broken remote. Their customer service refused to address it, 2 times, eventually they agreed a brand new remote shouldn't arrive broken.

They also refuse to address the dead pixels until the remove ticket is completed. (The remote issue is 4 weeks old and a replacement hasn't arrived).

Their customer service has been so horrible, I'll never buy samsung electronics again.

P.s. LG C2 is significantly better remote, UI, and processor.

I got the 42" C2 when they dropped to below $800.

Gonna be honest… don't miss the bigger screen. I truly do not miss it. Would it be BETTER if it was a C2 and also 65"… sure. But it would also then not be $800.

So in conclusion… I'd personally go with the biggest C2 you can afford, and just get used to the size.

Wasn't this supposed to be the next big thing for TVs with the QD OLED tech? This is already down to old/W OLED prices now. Issues with the tech itself or just initial launch issues that come with a new product line?

Update: ordered at the sale price, got the tv and now sending it back. Deep blacks are great - but those black areas = crazy reflection . There is jitter - some moments while streaming content, tested picture while playing Netflix.. Interface : FTMFL -- hate it. Older Samsungs may not have the picture quality but switching inputs in old Tizen system / adjusting picture/ sound settings was easier. Everyone's post made me paranoid re burn in. Some channels just have a static logo... then cant have tv get too hot -- btw it arrived with updated firmware. Also avoid if you're going to put this thing in the bedroom - bright af. It's incredibly slim but --- too high maintenance....

Ended up buying The Serif (2022 model) which is also discounted and has 120hz vs (2021) 60hz. -- looks interesting and i dont have to constantly baby it.

Q80's, Q90's and other models are also on sale + deep discounts for soundbars.

some ppl mentioned free Samsung+ care. It is available for free if you chat / call w. customer support.. BUT -- night customer service is full of it - they blatantly lied that Samsung Care+ wasn't available for TV that i wanted but only OLED, then another cust service rep said it was for QLED but... not for anything less than 50"... i ended up saving all the chats - every time they've created a cart for me - they contradicted what the other person before them was saying.

Deep discounts are for student/teachers (ID.me verified) not for military.

Screw this TV. Though it's gorgeous, it was gimped with a software update. On top of that, I have my stuff connected via a HDMI switch and it's nothing but problems. Not sure if it's the switch but every time a console goes to sleep, it can't restore the HDMI connection. I only recently found out you have to do a support HDMI debug in order to get it working again. I'd 100% rather get any other OLED in the market. Tizen OS is also so crappy. Everything is slow and unintuitive. It's kind of like Windows where you have like 3 different UIs from different generations all in one but the old, good ones are hard to get to. To give you an idea, there isn't even a source button. It's a 3 step process to get to the screen to change sources.

I don't know how wreckless you have to be to dent the panel. I mounted my 55" myself without problems. Of course you need to be super careful since the panel is less than 8mm thick.

For me, PayPal deals showed 6% but this can vary by user and time. Chase Freedom card has 5% back on PayPal payments up to $1500 for 4th Quarter that I hadn't used. The two together saved me 11%.

New models will be introduced at CES in January so there will be deals. Also the 55" likely doesn't sell as well as the 65". I got the 65" a few weeks ago for 1399 also on a edu deal. Liked it so much I wanted a 55" deal for another room.

These are fragile to say the least, not as much panel protection on OLEDs, and more reports of issues versus the LG sets. Frankly, buyers need to be damn careful transporting, unboxing, attaching the base or mounting, and moving. All are weak point for bending or failure. They are fragile to say the least. If one is very careful, two people unboxing together, inspect it closely, you'll probably be fine.

I opted for Best Buy pickup to reduce shipping touch points and for easy returns if needed. No questions asked returns for 15 days by taking back to Best Buy if needed.
