It is a stripped down RTX 3050 with 64 Bit bus, lower clock speed and TDP.

Sucks if you want to game at max settings at 300 fps. But for like an architect, this is totally fine.

Online reviews say ~280nits, and ram is upgradeable. Display is a deal breaker for me, but it's not a horrible price.

Can you explain why the Display is a dealbreaker? Do you mainly work in oudoors or very brightly lit all the times?

Nice deal with the qhd screen. But I doubt it is higher than 60hz. If it was 120hz or more then this is definitely a nice deal!

My criteria is not for the use case that occurs most often or "all the time". My criteria is to broadly cover use cases. Do I work outdoors or brightly lit places all the time? No. Do I want to enjoy seeing the screen when I do? Yes.

I've been looking for laptops for 3 people this holiday. Any deal with a display less than 300 nits is rejected (also anything less than ~100% NTSC/100% sRGB color range is rejected). 300-399 nits is considered based on the rest of the configuration, but it has to be a good deal.

I have a 400nits 90hz OLED display now and am happy with it, so that's my standard. I just ordered the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 for $1100 with 500 nits for light gaming.

If this machine was $100 more for a 350+ nits 100% sRGB display, I would buy this immediately for my architect gf.

100% NTSC is not same as 100% sRGB and if you're looking based on that assumption, then probably you need to do it properly. NTSC color gamit was used for TV Broadcasts over the air and not used for Display's color gamut coverage but yet, some manufacturers use that term to explain the color gamut. Normally 72% NTSC is equivalent to 99% sRGB but that's just an emperical rule. The Monitor display mainly uses REC 709 and REC 2020 standard and 100% sRGB normally covers the REC 709 standard. If you are looking for even better display then you should be looking for higher DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB coverage which covers the REC 2020 format but definitely not NTSC, like you're checking.

Now coming to this panel, this does cover 100% sRGB and I think around 75% DCI-P3 and 70% Adobe RGB. Regarding your assumption that it is a 280-nits panel from some user review you saw, that is also misleading. No two displays, even the exact models, are same and there will be some degree of variance always. I have seen multiple reviews where this panel actually goes over 300 nits.

It is not a gaming laptop but an budget alternative towards people who need a light but powerful machine for productivity, design or renderring work. For the price, you may get a full fledged gaming laptop with RTX 3050 but you won't get a laptop like this with a decent dedicated graphics and weights less than 4 lbs.

Didn't say it was the same. Nor is DCI-P3, Rec. 2020, AdobeRGB. Specs for displays seldom list each category or at all. Whatever is listed, if it's better than 45% NTSC or equivalent, then I'm OK with it.

There are variance in display brightness within a model. Sure. But if you read my message completely then you know that I prefer displays at a certain level, having two laptops with 400 and 500 nits displays. Rejecting a laptop with limited spec info and finding a 280 nits measurement in some random review, is the same as rejecting a 300+ nits in another. They're both way below my standard. Unless you want to provide some evidence that a panels that have a market spec of 300 nits often vary up to 500 nits. Otherwise thanks for your info.

Agreed. Why are they going backwards? A laptop 3050 is pretty darn weak for gaming. A BRAND NEW GPU RTX 2050 is even worse Confused

Looks to be ~66% of a 3050 and 6% faster than AMD Ryzen's 680m iGPU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs2JZnbroC0

Looks to have THROTTLING issues. Cpu limits to 12w and games STUTTER unless you use Throttlestop to adjust the power settings.
