A common question is, is Plex Pass worth it? Here is a feature overview: https://support.plex.tv/articles/...-overview/
If you use Android try symfonium music player a try. I enjoy the experience more than Plexamp. And for audiobooks the chronicle app.

Good riddance Plex.
You really gotta pick and choose what to listen to and believe from Linus. He seems to base a lot of his product reviews on whether or not they do what he needs personally and doesn't really care about any other use case. For example: "I have it (Plex) so it will manage my media library, and so that I can watch my media library on all my devices. Anything else is utterly irrelevant and might as well not exist."

I miss 2017 Plex.

October 26, 2021: This blog entry was big news because the feature had been broken for years after working just fine for years. I haven't tried it since then but LTT obviously demonstrated that it isn't working a year later. This isn't a big deal but it's what Plex users are dealing with in general. Basic features stay broken so long that it's a big deal when they are fixed.
Then download the Plex server to your computer or open it in a browser. Now add to the library aka tell the web app server where to find your movies/TV shows. If you have under 10 TB, give it an hour or so to add them all to your library. Now login to your Plex account on your smart tv and you will see all your shows/movies with beautiful cover art organized and searchable like a private Netflix. Works with music and photos too.
The Plex pass (this deal) is to add some features such as the ability to save videos onto your phone app to use with weak/no internet like on flights. Hope that helps!
Can my wife open her tablet, select an episode of a show, and download it "low quality"? (I'd like to do it too, but I want it to be easy enough that my wife can do it like she does with Prime video).
The transcode feature is important, because a lot of my new stuff is pretty high quality (like a 2-hour movie coming in at 30gb in 1080p) and 1) our mobile devices don't have enough storage space and 2) my home connection upload/airport wifi/tethered cell service don't have the capacity to move that much data while sitting in the terminal.

Jellyfin good for others who like tinkering with settings and/or technology.
There's also Emby for those looking for another option.
