1. There is almost the exact same deal currently on Travelzoo for $2889 for the same resort....BUT the Travelzoo deal includes all taxes and fees. It doesn't look like the Luxury Escapes one does this and this adds about $600 or so, so this LE one is actually more expensive by about $300 (for the base level room)
2. All inclusive once on the island is great.
Food at these Maldives resorts is very expense if you don't have a plan. Think minimum $60 per person each meal. Drinks are even more ridiculous on your own (arguably higher than hotel room minibar prices...).
3. The transfers are included from Male airport to the resort. This is anywhere from $600 to $800 (total round trip), not per person.
4. The half off spa services (one time only) is nice. Spa services are not cheap in the Maldives either.
The biggest difference between the LE deal and the Travelzoo one outside of the taxes fees is that on LuxuryEscapes you can pick the exact dates you want to go with prices and see it confirmed immediately.
With Travelzoo, you need to buy the Voucher directly from Travelzoo THEN email the resort to check on dates availability...Depending on when you want to go there may be a surcharge involved (This is usually December thru Early May). The LE price reflects that, the Travelzoo one doesn't.
Overall, having booked a similar deal thru Travelzoo, I can recommend them...as I said, the emailing the resort directly and not knowing if the exact dates you want are avail is a bit of a pain in the butt though.
I've been tempted to pull the trigger on a Luxury Escapes one just because the "ease" of booking, despite it being a bit more expensive with the taxes and fees.
Also, if you choose the dolphin cruise as your excursion, it will likely just be a boat ride to both ends of Kooddoo island. I stayed at The Residence Maldives, which is a few minutes by boat south and our dolphin cruise just took us on a circle of Kooddoo. Saw plenty of dolphins, so if dolphins are your thing, that excursion is A-okay in my book.
