Yours is SDSSDA-1T00-G26, OP's is SDSSDA-1T00-G27. So the OP is a slightly newer revision.

Unless your computer is doing some crazy writes I would expect this drive to last far longer then 3 years. There are hardware defect chances in all things some higher then others but with a normal well functioning drive most people will have this outlast any useability of their pc

Seems like this is the same drive from Amazon, except it's cheaper.

I had the exact same problem! Also tested exactly twice for my 2.5" 256GB Sandisk drives: the first time the drive became insanely slow I immediately backed up the data and sent the drive for warranty, and it happened to the replacement again in a year so I gave up on warranty requests and write the drive off because I don't want to put my data on their unreliable drives anymore even if they were to give me a fresh one at no cost. When the drive detects/boots intermittently, all red flags should be up if you're using a Sandisk and you should back up the data right away. They probably had a design/manufacturing problem. Not touching the Sandisk brand anymore. They are on my sh!tlist like Seagate.

Not really. It's not about endurance. I didn't write a lot to the Sandisk 2.5" drives I had (at least not even had a chance with the RMA replacement). They probably had a flaw in a particular product line so the drive'd rot over time, not by the mileage you put on it. The data on the SSD is more valuable than SSD itself, so I don't see any point that better warranty can make up for unreliability when the cost of data loss is hundreds folds higher than the warranty services' value. I could have RMA'ed it for the 2nd time and have a 3rd SSD, but at that point I'm so fed up with them that I just suck up the loss and stayed away from the brand. Mad

Been buying Western Digital / SanDisk drives for my work (in IT) for years. Very reliable but do note that this one is from their non 3D line. Still a good drive, but it is the slightly cheaper & "lower tier" line. Also note, this is a $9 savings from the typical price.

Just wondering, since in 2016 WD bought SanDisk, does anyone have insight about how they operate?

Are they (basically) completely separate? Or do the slightly lower binned (not bad bins, just not the top tier) components go into SanDisk drives?

Yep. It'll work. Be aware that SSDs see practically no significant increase in performance when replacing an HDD. That said, SSDs are so damn cheap now, if you need/want a 1TB drive you might as well grab this over an HDD since. the price is likely near parity for storage amount.
