I have this set and love it. Lightweight and extremely comfortable to use due to the slide-style batteries (smaller grip). They are brushed but that doesn't matter. This handles 95% of tasks around the house and is the first set I reach for. Makita's 12v ecosystem is smaller compared to Milwaukee FYI

It's not just smaller, it's significantly smaller and appears to be dead. I love Makita, and am heavily invested in the 18V LXT and 36V LXT (18Vx2) platforms but how they're abandoning this platform is disappointing

In the market for a drill to do light house work. I always see deals on Rigid products. Should I jump or this or wait? It seems like Makita is a better brand, but Rigid offers lifetime warranty?

I would heartily recommend the above deal for light house work.
In the Ridgid ecosystem, you might like this for $99: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI.../315110228

Ridgid is getting ready to roll out outdoor power tools, so being in their battery platform already would be a benefit.

The same thing happened to their 10.6v line. Still using the drill/driver combo from that line but I can't even get batteries for it anymore.

Fool me once Makita....

For light house work, Milwaukee M12 shines. They're small, light, and have plenty of power for most tasks. The ecosystem is huge if you want to add more tools later. On the cheaper end, Ryobi will get the job done just fine. Their 18v lineup has plenty of more household type tools like inflators, glue guns, vacuums, and most of it is totally adequate.
