You don't want plug and play for a turntable. It's not a CD player. You want to be able to do tonearm adjustments.
Depends on what the buyer wants. The arm is already balanced for its cart on the LP60. No need for further adjustment.

I do not have the LP3 but did a little research on its features. This seems like a great starter player and has the ability to be properly set up and the cartridge can be replaced. I'd recommend this over the LP60 anyday.
I bought the LP3 on Black Friday, haven't had any issues. The auto stop comes in handy and the start feature is cool. Only thing I wish was different was the RCA cables. They are integrated with the player itself.

That's great in theory but they don't stay perfectly balanced forever. For example the spring in LP60 tonearm loses tension over time that results in a higher tracking force that will affect playback and can damage records. People that value their records definitely want a turntable with an adjustable tonearm. If you are buying $1 bin records from a thrift store it's not an issue.

Can someone comment on the sound quality of LPs vs CDs or even high quality streaming. Everytime I think about getting into this hobby, I am reminded how it's more of a hobby for collecting LPs and the sound quality is not necessarily any better (similar to tube amps).

Best deal I've seen for a decent entry-level table. The cartridge alone is worth $40, which makes the price extra impressive.

Even though I have a higher-end table I was curious about the Gemini SL-1200 knockoffs, but the reviews are so brutal that it doesn't appear they're worth considering even at the super-discounted price.

Interesting theory. Do you have any actual data? How long will the spring maintain proper tension? 1 yr? 5 yrs? 10 yrs? Can it be replaced at that time to make the player like new again?

Don't get into vinyl for sound quality. Between surface noise, static, poor pressings, etc, it's a losing battle. I dabble in vinyl for nostalgia and the physical connection you have with the music.

Btw...vwestlife (or something like that) on YouTube did a test trying to prove how much downforce would damage a record. It was an insane amount.

That's up to you to research if you are that interested. There are complaints about the LP60 spring losing tension and affecting playback if you search online. But it's also common sense that something that requires tension will not maintain that indefinitely as it ages.

Just purchased the Audio Technica AT-LP3BK to replace my 1984 Technics SL-BD35 which is starting to sound like the motor is going. Thanks OP!

Nah. Not interested. I thought you had actual data. The arm on the lp60 will spend most of its life setting on its rest. Not under heavy tension. I trust audio technica to build a good turntable. That spring should last many years. I wouldn't worry about it 👍🏼
If anyone was concerned they could buy an inexpensive digital scale and measure the weight every year or so.

Bought from the Focus deal previosly. Focus Camera claims to price match on a case-by-case basis. Conveniently nobody is answering their live chat after waiting an hour. Their website says extended holiday returns through January for anything ordered after November 1, so it should be returnable. Sure would be a big package to send all the way back, wish they would price match.

Thanks for this! I just got the LP3BK back in november off of amazon for $160 which is still within it's return window so I just returned it and got one of these!

I tried to price match with Focus Camera but they said they don't price match this vendor.

Not sure if the hassle is worth the $45 in savings.

This is a great value. A nice upgrade over the LP60X for $85 is a killer deal.
