A $10 surge protector is not the same thing.
Most people don't need a PST-8, but it's a slick deal if you do.
I don't own a Furman but can confirm power line conditioners really do make a difference and protect sensitive AV equipment and TVs from dirty power and surges.

Anyone know what the difference is between the Digital version and the normal version? The one linked in the OP is the Digital version. Digital has part number PST-8D while normal version is just PST-8.
From the description: "4 digital-ultrasonic noise filtered outlets, 4 linearly filtered outlets" for the digital one, while normal has all 8 linearly filtered. Anyone understand the difference?
Visually, I can see there are four coax connections on Digital version and two coax on normal version.

Per the manual:
"The PST-8D employs additional ultra-sonic filtering for both digital and video components. This additional filtering assures peak system performance by preventing AC noise or back-wash from cross contaminating an adjacent unit. For example, a television plugged into the digital – video filtered outlets will not affect an audio receiver controller connected to one of the PST-8D's standard or delayed outlets."

I never thought I'd need these, but I'm looking at them tonight because a downed tree hit a power line near my parents cabin recently. The meter absolutely exploded inside, it got through two levels of fuses (old electrical system) and in a couple locations a surge protector. Fried two tvs, a microwave, three DC power converters and some other small electronics. This might be overkill but I'm going to be installing better protection on my devices going forward.
