For Team Group's 2.5-inch SATA3 SSD's, the models with a 2 (AX2, CX2, EX2, GX2) all tend to have the SMI SM2258XT DRAM-less controller. Despite the lack of DRAM, it's a fairly proven controller that has been around for a while. The main differences between the models appears to be what flash nand is used. The EX2 appears to have 96-layer SanDisk TLC. The AX2 appears to be an Amazon specific SKU that is identical to the CX2 with uses the same SM2258XT controller and 64-layer Micron TLC NAND. I do not have an AX2 to verify, but the CX2 I have dissected has those specs.

I own 4 of these 2TB drives - provided me with trouble free service on all of them. I paid approx. $150 for these early in 2022 so this is a great deal!

Anyone know if there is a decent but reasonably priced (under $300) external NAS enclosure that would take 4 of these in raid

Nothing that would make sense. Decent brands are under $300 for two bays, but going to four jumps closer to $500.

I saw a single one but I've never heard of the brand. It only had 1Gb Ethernet which makes SSDs pointless. Just grab a quality two bay, and two 8-10TB spinning drives and mirror them. You should still cap out a 1Gb network connection.

Unraid with SSD's still holds a "not recommended" status from the devs if you care about parity. It's also a lot of money for the OS for something like this use case.

I'd either use xpenology with a mini tower or Ubuntu with a basic smb/nfs share.

You can also do mergerfs+snapraid for software raid on Ubuntu, proxmox etc.
