I'd honestly like to hear where you're getting this idea from.
Same price at Amazon and Adorama as well
It works well on APS-C cameras, as designed.
For an APS-C camera it's pretty damn wide without that much distortion. And keep in mind for this price it's a f1.4 lens, which is really great for low light situations. It's a surprisingly fast/sharp lens for this price.
Not the most premium build quality but it's hard to argue with an f/1.4 lens with this optical quality and fast/quiet AF at this price point. You have to spend 3~4x more for the Olympus PRO 17mm f/1.2 lens and the performance gain is hard to justify for hobbyists.

This lens is straight up GOATED. Best value. (You can get it for about 275 used on ebay, amazon is usually 350, so 319 is a good deal!)
Note, they also have the Sigma 30 (apsc crop = 45mm) and the sigma 56 (apsc crop = 84) for similar discounts, both of which are absolutely fantastic portrait lenses, or the whole trio for 1k. You can rarely find the trio, aka the Sigma Holy Trinity, for less than $900.
