Yes but can add teenage family members to the account so they can use the card.
But the add ons would never get the coupon promotion advantage?
Just sign up in 18+s names and let them rip around with that to meet full promotional offer?

They do not pull your credit for debit or reloadable. The soft check is strictly for identify verify purposes. Repeat, no hard credit pull for debit or reloadable. STOP the spread of misleading or wrong information. Thanks!

I could sign up under my name use promo and then add my son yes, BUT not going to bother because of the way funds need to be added. I've been looking for a simple solution to get him a card to use on school sports trips etc but this isn't it. I may just go to the local bank and tie one to his own account or do one of the other available cards for kids options. We need to be able to easily add funds, quickly if needed, and that cant be done with this it seems.

Do you have to add money to the accounts to get the 40$? Or can I just get the coupon and use a different payment option?

just a paranoid FYI for those setting up the debit card, if you directly sign in with your bank details you are giving them A LOT of information about you. Please make sure you read what permissions you are granting them and all of the details they can see. If you are uncomfortable with that then select the verify with deposits option.

Yeah, I specifically created a free Alloy online checking account to sign up for this same deal a ways back. I just put money in it, and it's basically my Target budget. No minimum balances necessary, and it adds a little bit of a layer between me and my transaction-level data (since they already have that date since I'm almost solely only using it for Target RedCard purposes).

I work at target. This isn't a scam, but keep in mind redcards aren't very reliable, and the target app is incredibly finicky to use. Once you're used to it it's okay, but if you're not used to having different types of cards it will not be very easy to use.
