So apparently this was replaced by the rp-600, which was replaced by the rp-600m II.

If you don't want it Bright get a floorstander... Klipsch floorstanders are much more blanaced and smooth than the little brothers... Get some RP 280f 8000f or 8000f V2. or some older Klipsch Fortes/Chorus/Quartet... no Heresy's I or II's though they hurt. $200 for these is great use as rears/surrounds Smilie

Just turn down the treble on your AVR or amp.

Or buy speakers that you like the character of the sound in the first place?

Congratulations. How do you feel about the sound of it's replacements?

I don't think it would sound any different to this unless you are an audiophile doing specific tests. I personally like this series better because of the slanted base. Plus it is cheaper than the 600m because it is an older model.

Ppl that have listened to newest one said it sounds more neutral. Less colored.

yimnvs, sound is subjective, but when we say a speaker is bright, this usually means it's bright enough that most people would notice. bright isn't bad, but for some content it can be a bit too sharp, such as female vocals.

compare your on axis sound , vs moving 15-20 degrees off axis, that's about the difference between a bright and neutral speaker in this case.

I learned that you can't really go by what people say because sound is subjective. Just try it yourself because people say a lot of different things in every review; some people prefer the sound of the older model.

and I love that brightness, it is awesome in movies. Music you can turn down the treble if it gets too fatiguing for you. I actually didn't turn the treble down when listeninn to music because it is fine with me.

Unfortunately you will(and have) always have people thinking they can define what sounds better or bad to everyone.

I agree you should always read things with a BIG grain of salt.

As you can tell just in this thread people define bright, neutral, sharp differently.
Heck more often than not, people give an opinion on how something sounds without ever actually listening to it!

Having heard them more than I care to admit the difference is pretty minor and you would only notice playing them side by side.

For me using neutral sound description with Klipsch is an oxymoron.
Can one model by less bright/sharp/harsh yes but by no means would it fall under neutral in my impression.

IMO sound is a preference rather than good or bad.

Can't tell you how many times I read something was phenomenal or garbage and once I listened I didn't agree or completely agree.
Then you add in the cost of it and it becomes exponentially more complicated!

That's fine, I'm not the audiophile-police yimnvs, I'm just expressing my own experience and what I've correlated to other impressions.

Lol. Ok but you do agree it's bright, just like others have noticed, so apparently we can judge a speaker by what others notice. You said you like the brightness. Great. Like I said congratulations. You might want to listen to the latest replacement version. You might like it even more 👍🏼
