Would this work as a vapor barrier in a crawlspace?
yes definitely for the 10'x25' 6 mil ones, and probably not for the 10'x20' 4 mil ones. again get the 10'x 25' ones as they are 6 mil thickness which is VERY thick for plastic sheeting like this. it weighs 8 lbs. to put how thick these are in perspective, the 7'x9' blue Harbor Freight tarps are 4 mil thick compared to these which are again, 6 mil thick. that's much thicker than the tarp. and area wise, the 10'x25' plastic sheeting is 4 times bigger than a 7'x9' tarp. the tarp is 63 square feet in area while the plastic sheeting is 250 square feet. that's like getting four 7'x9' tarps for $3.33 but again these are also much thicker than a tarp. it's a great deal.

"Fortunately, vented crawlspaces can be sealed with the proper installation of a crawlspace vapor barrier. Vapor barrier thicknesses range from 6 mil to 20 mil, with 6 mil being the bare minimum and 20 mil being the most heavy duty and puncture-resistant."
A friend was selling his house and he was throwing out his solar cover for his pool. I used that, it works awesome and the price was perfect. Best part is that it doesn't puncture when walking/crawling on it.

I think 6 mil is absolutely fine but it will be more likely to tear from walking or moving items on top of it. So like most things it's a trade off.
At this price you could put 10 layers for the price of a normal roll of 10mil or 20 mil though so that's worth considering. I looked the other day and 20 mil was almost $300 per roll. It was much longer roll but not 100x longer.
