If you're talking about outdoor, I don't think this would be a good choice for uplighting. The strip lighting is really versatile, but it puts out a more even and (obviously) long length of light, and doesn't have the throw that an uplight or spot would have. It would softly uplight, but not enough to do it the right way. I use it hidden under hot tub steps. If you were going Hue for uplighting, the lily and lily xl would be a good choice. Also, it's nice to have the option of color to use sparingly and responsibly, but most of the time, it's good to stick to a warm white. Hue does warm white perfectly, which is important for interior and exterior lighting.

This does have a bit of up lighting, but would be about 3-5 feet up the wall. I bought the non-bluetooth version a few years ago. Unfortunately, you have to be very careful with them and make sure you never bend them too much.

Mine no longer works properly. At some point, it got rolled up and put into a cabinet. Im assuming it got bent a bit too much.

this is an outdoor rating? I'm not sure if you are compared to the same product. But, I do feel the pain when you install the strip to the cabinet.

Correct. Outdoor version. And was double the price back then.

Put into a cabinet, meaning it was put away for the winter and was rolled up.

Definitely more durable then the indoor strips, but still delicate.
