Personally, Korg 380 for $100 more is worth it

I've been waiting for this deal to come back, but the stories about horrible customer service from Adorama have scared me off. I'm curious how many people have had bad experiences with Adorama vs. okay. It's understandable these pianos can get damaged in shipping but it's all about how the seller handles it.

For my piano ordered from Adorama, I guess I lucked out when UPS delivered it in one piece. The box was dinged up with a compressed corner. It must have been dropped hard enough to crack the inner styrofoam. But thankfully, the piano wasn't damaged.

I've only had a handful of orders with Adorama. But they did take care of me last week when UPS lost a package for a day. The package was supposed to have been overnighted before Christmas. When it didn't arrive but was marked as delivered, they filed a claim with UPS, let me order the same product with the original now inactive sale price, and overnighted the replacement the same day. In the event the original package miraculously arrived, they also promised to have the replacement returned for free despite their return policy stating that return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.

And that's exactly what happed the next day when the original package showed up. A quick call to their customer service and the replacement package, which had already been shipped, got rerouted back to them.

That's just one positive experience to balance out all the negative ones reported. Though, it was with an item that is much smaller and much less expensive at $100.

I'm waiting for the CA49 to go on sale again. Missed it last time. The real hammer action is the selling point for me.

I've read some criticisms of the RH3 action which is in the CA49 and some say the RHC action (in the KDP75) is actually better. But then some people don't like either one and say that Kawai actions are too bouncy. Have you tried them out? I haven't had the opportunity to play a Kawai at all. I have been holding out on a deal on either the KDP75 or ES110.

Hammer action is purely personal preference.

I ordered 2 x Korg LP 380U when it was $800.

Both boxes severely damaged by UPS.

It was easy to get refunded for both.

Just refuse the package on delivery, don't sign it.

If they drop it off then don't open it.

I ended up buying the Kawai CA-49 and I love it! Key action is perfect for me.

I feel like Roland and Korg are on the heavy side.

I prefer Kawai and Yamaha.

But it's all down to personal preference.

My friend bought the Korg LP-380U and his was not damaged so he kept it. He and his wife love it. She loves the deep red color which matches their modern home decor. I think the speakers sound better than this Kawai. But, I've not played with either side by side.

There is an insane amount of product fanaticism out there. The CA49 has GFC not RH3. The CN29 39 201 301 uses the RH3. All Kawai actions are on the light side. The RHC and RH3 are more bouncy than other brands. I've played alot of pianos, the bounce does not affect piano playing, it just looks funny on camera.

Of late, we've witness alot of scientific criticism for GFC and GF actions, something about inaccurate output problems. I do not fully understand it myself, but I suspect this is something only very high level players can detect. So, if you think you're going to level up real quick, or you already know you're a god damn prodigy, sure, maybe avoid the GFC and GF. I don't think beginners should spend much more money than this $700 model though. All the gizmos I've bought off slickdeals have broken or had problems at some point, these things are not heirloom ready, so perhaps choose conservatively.

I ordered a Casio PX-870 for Christmas and the box looked fine but inside a side panel was cracked all the way through. Been waiting a week now for an email that says anything more than "We're looking into it. Get back to you soon." So far I'm not impressed and I'm hoping it works out but I guess I get to play through the Adorama customer service game and see what happens.

We tried a Korg and Kawai in the store, similar price. Both had nice feel and sound but the Kawai looks so much nicer, leaning Kawai for that reason. Liked both a little better than the Yamaha in this $1200 price range.

We have a baby grand back home, the Korg is heavier but I wouldn't say it feels more like the baby grand, since both feel artificial.

Yeah sorry I had the model numbers mixed up, I was thinking of 29 not 49. But like you said people also criticize the GFC actions. Those are out of my price range and besides I just don't want to put that much money into one. But I like hearing detailed opinions on actions and various other features. I'm not a beginner and I have really sensitive ears and fingers. I also have neuropathy and neuromuscular problems. I need the action to work with me not against me.

Then this piano's is your jam, either this or the slab version, es110, the RHC actions are the lightest set of the bunch, but it feels substantial enough to be present, feels like there's meat in this dumpling you know?

The 29 and above are stiffer, not alot, but as you say every bit works against you.
