Project Farm recently compared blenders [youtube.com], including a higher-end Vitamix.
This is a good price for this unit new. The sale price for refurbs was $190 from Vitamix directly.

Vitamix reps have told me that all models use the same motor. This isn't true. There are many things that they are not allowed to disclose such as ease of changing out blade assembly or container compatibility. Besides, specs are subject to change. Check the rating label, weigh the motor base. Economy models look the same as commercial grade.
5200 compared: Why does anyone still buy this? It is an older weaker model which lacks the important pulse mode and was replaced with stronger much improved Next Generation G series. The 5200 gets praise not deserved imo only because it is supplied with a tall container. I would buy the 060865 tall 64 oz container separately and use it with my G series before buying 5200 blender. Or to save more, a commercial versions of the tall container. But the low 64 oz is the most versatile container. Small batches come out fine if people will only cover the blades with liquid and use full power.

edit: direct from Vitamix a low price for a new G series has happened 1 or 2 x a year.

Certified refurbished are just as good but they are not always priced low enough to justify the reduced warranty.
It's likely that a few of the models use the same motor. The difference is in the power output permitted by the motor controller. the cheaper models will use a less powerful driver for the motor but the motor itself is likely physically the same because it's cheaper to manufacture that way.
It's like how Tesla sold the lower end Model S with the smaller battery, but they all had the same battery. The cheaper one was just limited in the software.
The average cheapo walmart blender that most people buy has less than 1 hp.
2hp might as well be a Cadillac V series.
