The fine print, page 15 of the weekly ad [menards.com], says that items can be up to twice the height of the bag. No stacking above the height of the bag. Items must be in original packaging and not disassembled. Doesn't work on gift cards, invoices, special orders, etc...
I hate how difficult they make the program. Come on, you really need us to manually fill out a form, stick it in an envelope, pay postage to be physically delivered and wait like 3 or 4 months for piece of paper with a barcode?

If you have a Home Depot near your Menards, they secretly match The 11% rebate when Menards has it. (Lots of restrictions and some stores don't participate.) Digital submission, but snail mailed plastic gift cards in a few weeks. https://www.homedepotrebates11percent.com/#/home
Don't get all the hate. Menards has more SKUs than any of the other chains in stock and still has regular sales that beat the prices of everyone else. They carry tools at every price level from premium to Harbor Freight quality.

I look forward to the bag sale every year to pick up clearance Christmas stuff as well as things that never go on sale like oscillating tool blades, electrical tools and wire just to name a few things.

Exactly! Especially for smaller purchases it's not even worth the time to fill it out and pay for postage. Even the rebate money excludes online purchases and must be used on an entire purchase.
Menards is about twice as far away from me as Lowe's and Home Depot but they offered the metal roofing that I wanted for our house. You wouldn't believe how much they charged to ship that.
I also more nit picking but do they really have to blast their stupid store jingle in-store?! Definitely like a 90s business marketing idea.
I'm not sure what you mean by use the rebate "on an entire purchase", but it can definitely be used in pieces. It's just a gift card with value until its all used up.

Also the rebate may not be perfect for your small purchases, but it's a fantastic program for those of us that spend thousands at the store, along with all of their contractor customers. It's a program with a specific audience, and that audience might not be the occasional small-purchase shopper.

Agreed. I use it for water fitler cartridges and such. Bag sale = time to change filters

All true, and even a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk. nod

I just wish they would open some stores west of the Rockies.
The Sprecher soda is some of the best you can get anywhere, and Menards carries more varieties than any dedicated soda store within 300 miles!

FWIW, it actually makes it a lot easier sometimes when you have a pile of receipts to just send them in all at once and get a single rebate certificate vs Home Depot makes you fill out a new form for each individual receipt and then get a pile of plastic cards with tiny amounts on them. Both have advantages, but the easiest would be a hybrid of the two solutions offering a bulk submittal of multiple receipts all redeemable on a single plastic card or paper certificate.

Does anyone know if Home Depot matches this, since they do the 11%?

If you read the thread you'd have your answer.

I dont get why being passive-aggressive is necessary. My fault for not reading the entire thread and asking a question to engage the slick deals community. Comments like yours are why people are hesitant to post.

Picked up CMT Orange (made in Italy) saw blades and router bits. I love them and prices are same as November.

Not being aggressive, simply frustrated. There is more than one comment and answer to the same exact question you asked. If you spent just 1 min scanning through it, you wouldn't have had to ask.
Laziness to read the thread and asking the same thing 10 different times is also an inefficient use of this community.

Menards rebates are some of the easiest methods ever. One form for all of their rebates (and you only need to fill it out, even if you have 100 rebate receipts). They don't care about expiration dates for the rebates. I've sent in receipts that were 6 months past their date and still gotten the money. All of those little rebates get merged into one big rebate check, so you're not dealing with 20 plastic cards from HD for $1.20 using their rebate submission process. While you do pay tax on the original full amount of the item, if you use their gift card on an item, it reduces the taxable value of that item. So if you buy a $100 item with their rebate credits, you will pay $0 tax on it.

Regarding using the bag at other stores, I have used it at Lowes before with success, but haven't tried HD. At Lowes, I had the bag inside my coat when I got to the cash register. I asked if they accepted competitor coupons, the cashier confirmed they did, so I pulled out the bag and put the Ecobee thermostat in said bag and got a nice discount on it. At the time (Jan 2020) they didn't really go on discount anywhere, and Menards didn't sell Ecobee.

My experience pricing things around store to store, Menards typically has competitive pricing vs HD and Lowes and the rebates are just frosting. I've never had a problem returning stuff at Menards. The only real downside with the return process is that you have to have a receipt to get the full return amount and they can't/won't look it up for you, but they have a kiosk where you can look for the purchase using your credit card and print out a new receipt yourself. It just makes what is a pretty automated process at HD and Lowes take a bit more time and effort for the customer.

Their online order pickup is in the FAR back of the store, but that is by design, not to be a PITA. You can take your online pickup form and drive into the lumber yard. Just show the form to the gate guard and go park. They will load the item into your car and you can drive it out. You can also order the lumber/landscaping stuff online for self-pick and go pick it up yourself driving around the back yard. Makes getting X bags of landscaping rocks way easier than dealing with carts and whatnot. Their lumber supply makes HD and Lowes look like a mom and pop corner store in comparison.

I do agree that the 11% rebate is aimed more at contractors than retail customers, although it still adds up to a lot of savings/rebate if you buy much at Menards. But for a contractor, you buy your customer funded supplies from Menards and then end up with thousands in rebate checks that you can use as pure profit or to make personal projects free. My BIL built himself a detached garage and it was basically free other than the concrete, because of all the rebates he had accumulated from his contracting business.

I always try to think of the best things to get with this deal. High-end extension cords, expensive paints and stains that never go on sale, grilling do-dads, go through the camping and RV stuff they've moved to the garden center. Bluetooth speakers and other electronic stuff like that. What else....

I use the bag at Home depot everytime this deal comes up and the 15% is given at time of purchase.
Got a milwaukee heated jacket and pin nailer..
They always keep the bag
( Menards is across the street from my Home depot)
Home Depot Joliet #1962 with only self checkout lanes (no cashiers) said they are not honoring the 15% bags this year.
