I've bought the Nest Hello on multiple homes. One major issue with it is that the exterior plastic peels and flakes. Google it as it is a very common issue when the doorbell is exposed to sunlight.

I've wanted to upgrade to the second gen for awhile but have held off since on paper it is worse and the deals so far haven't been great. I've heard from buyers that the picture quality is better on the 2nd generation wired, even though the resolution is lower than the original Hello doorbell. Just like with cameras, sharpness isn't everything. Lower resolution on a similarly sized image sensor means the photocites on the image sensor are larger, so it is able to capture more light which is helpful at night.

This effect is the reason why many videographers have preferred using low resolution cameras like the 12MP A7SIII as their go to camera. 12MP is enough for 4K and the low light performance is outstanding. Just one reason not to get hung up about the lower resolution on the 2nd Gen Wired vs the original Nest Hello doorbell.
I finally posted a FP deal! I would like to thank everyone that made this happen. 😂
Personally speaking I prefer the aspect ration of the gen 1 and due to that refuse to upgrade. The gen 1 catches a huge portion of my yard and I use it more so as a security camera than a doorbell at times. The gen 1 I can also use the dedicated Nest app instead of the terrible Google Home app which I despise.

This is the lowest price on it. If only they made it easier to control the ring tone and volume on your phone when someone rings the doorbell rather than flow through regular notification chimes....

For anyone interested in the battery version, it's $54 for the Snow color at Bed, Bath, Beyond: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/788530

That's not the first generation. That's the same second generation but battery version versus the wired version in this thread.

I think you mean battery. The link you posted is for the second generation, battery option.

You're right, thanks for the correction! Changed it so there's no confusion.

Went all in on the Google ecosystem early but their stuff keeps breaking. First gen doorbell just broke right after 2 years.

This is Gen 2 and some people doesn't like the aspect ratio. Do compare and see which one you like better.

Gen 1 has higher resolution and also cheaper.

It was recently $90:

Agreed. I've been using the Nest Hello doorbell for almost 5 years. Had to upgrade my transformer on day 1 but it's been flawless since then. Love the Nest app. too.

I bought this wired version beginning of December. I like the notifications and the satisfied with the field of view. While the install was easy, the indoor chime just would not ring. I checked the transformer rating and the in app option but no luck. Google support page directs me to get a pro to install this. Anyone have any thoughts?
