I've owned 20+ Thinkpads, Dell XPS/Precision, Macbooks, HP X360, and now this HP 845 G9.

Regarding the build quality - The HP Elitebook series will be better than any consumer models (Spectre, Lenovo Slim, Inspiron, etc...). Basically, other than the Macbook Air/Pro, the Elitebook will be better build quality than anything you can find at Costco.

Compared to other business laptops on build quality (feel) - I'd still rank Thinkpads as higher build quality, then Dell Precision, then HP. When you talk about reliability though, I would go Thinkpad, then HP, then Dell.

From a performance perspective, this is a great deal for folks. Unless you are gaming, the 680M integrated graphics card is the best integrated graphics card out there. Period.

If you're wanting a cool running, high performing laptop, this is a good deal, unless you can find an equal deal on the Thinkpad.

No. Mine is generic.

No coupon code, you have to create a HP EPP account.

I'm not an employee, but got the EPP deal. See below.

See below.

HP Employee Purchase Program. There's several ways you can get it.

UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
MILITARY, HEALTHCARE, AND FIRST RESPONDERS
BUSINESS

See below, I'll tell you what I did.

_______________________________________________________

The following two methods is how I got an HP EPP Account. I was able to make an account with both methods. The steps are high level and from my memory, so figure out the missing steps if you get stuck:

1) With id.me

a) Go to https://shop.id.me/stores/2524-hp...se-program
b) Click bottom link: 'Shop Now'
c) Click 'Sign In' and log into id.me
d) It will forward do to HP's site: "HP Employee Purchase Program. Welcome ID.me"
e) Click 'Register'
f) create the account and you will get the discounted price after done

2) Without id.me
a) Go to https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/cv/employee
b) Click 'Register'
c) Fill in 'First name', 'Last name', 'Email address'
d) Leave 'Compnay name' blank
e) Fill in 'Company code'
For EXAMPLE:
(personally used these instructions) https://team.georgia.gov/wp-conte...eorgia.pdf
(or try) https://customers.usli.com/sites/...rchase.pdf
f) create the account and you will get the discounted price after done

That's a beast. Beast as you can get without a dedicated gpu!!

Yes, yes. Intel can be "faster", but I'll take a little slower cpu with that igpu any day.

Do you need to be a member of a particular group for Id.me to get the discount?

PayPal offers an extra 10% back in rewards on HP. Not sure if this targeted or available to all. You do need to "save" the offer in your account. Unlike cash back portals, this works on EPP as well, even on the tax portion of your purchase.

Darn, I just paid $936 for this a couple of days ago. Anyone know if there's a price match option?

Special promotions are not eligible for price protection including financing offers, bundle offers, free items, pricing errors, mail-in offers, coupon offers, items that are advertised as limited-time-only (doorbusters) or limited quantity, out of stock items, clearance items, credit card offers, gift card offers, "Final Sale" items, and items for sale from the week of Thanksgiving through the week following Thanksgiving and during our Presidents Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Green Monday and .................."Red Tag Sales".

Likely no because of this....

This is a smoking deal. Of course I just ordered the 16GB/1TB model a few days ago when it was on sale (that model is slightly more expensive this time at $712 instead of $702), but if this 32GB 6850U had been this cheap a few days ago, I would have bought this one instead Frown
