HP Omen 25L
  • i7-12700
  • 16GB RAM
  • RTX 3070
  • 512 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD
  • 600W PS $1142.47
  • 120 mm liquid cooler

Foundthis review [youtu.be](different configuration, but same chassis): Seems to have cooling issues, like most gaming pre-builts, but this version has a liquid cooled CPU at least. And it has standard mother board and uses a standard sized power supply. So it should be easy to upgrade, or even move into a better ventilated case if you want.

Have seen it drop to 1179 twice over the past two days. Shows $1,229.99 atm. Seems like they are really trying to get rid of this.

Damn! It was showing $1,142.47 15 minutes ago when I posted, but now I'm seeing $1,229.99, too. I guess it's dead already ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Though, $1,229.99 still seems like a decent price for these components and decent upgradability.)

As someone who builds, this is an excellent setup for the money, as it appears every single part is an industry standard part. Looks like this is the first big name brand I've seen that actually put a pcie 5.0 slot in their build.

Empty pcie 4.0 m.2 slot for easy expansion. Wish it had front usb-c.

@$1229, Looking just on one site, would cost me about the same to build this myself with similar quality goods, so still a very good price.

Recommended!

Wow. This does seem good. It's getting much harder to resist upgrading.

Be careful ordering from hp. They charge a 10 percent and sometimes even a 15 percent restocking fee no matter what the circumstance. Will not bend no matter what. Dealing with a large laptop purchase at the moment and trying to return unopened and warehouse is in the same state. Actually purchased a better hp laptop from Best Buy-the irony. If I didn't have Best Buy total care I'd return it as well as I don't have to deal with hp. I worked for Dell for years and never treated any of my customers this way. So be careful with larger purchases from hp. Should really be a flat fee or make us pay to ship back.

Is this is the best deal right now for a decent desktop at $1230?

how does it compare to this for $1050?

I've been looking. Going to buy the rtx3070 version because some of the software I use only works with nVidia. But I would buy the AMD version otherwise.

I've been watching deals for the past few months, but desktop deals have slowed to a trickle since the holidays. This still looks like one of the best. I'd like to have 32GB of RAM and a larger SSD, but this is still pretty good.

Any comments on using this system for video editing, Premiere Pro specifically? I'm working on a pretty ancient system, so this would be a big improvement I'm sure!
