We've only had the cheaper plan and never had any issue with throttling in our area. My wife uses 5G most of the time and streams videos constantly.

But depending on your area and how many people are using Verizon towers you might have the exact opposite experience...

They have to offer this to get people there in my experience. This is the worst carrier around. They screwed up my account and I lost service for five days. It took them three weeks to get an Apple Watch connected. The savings are definitely not worth it.

I've had family with 4 visible lines for the last ~two years. I traveled all over the US this last year (20k miles) as a vanlifer.

Verizon's network has a far reach and is one of the best in the US. The data service that you receive on Visible is very location dependent. In oversubscribed areas I've had my phone be completely non-functional or experience 10s page load times for simple websites. This usually happens in congested areas (theme parks, downtown areas, etc.) In most suburbs you can pull 100s of MB/s and have decent-ish latency, but you may also be limited to 2MB/s if their towers just aren't great in the area.

I recommend trying Visible if you think it'll work for you because the value is there (actually unlimited data for hotspot.) However, be prepared for the above. I'm currently on a "break" from Visible on two lines, but will likely move back (especially with this promo.)

In July I upgraded to the new Visible+ plan in preparation for traveling to Canada. This involved getting a new SIM (and I was on the road), so I opted for an eSIM. Long story short, I didn't have service for 2 days while Visible support sorted that out. Then a few months later I purchased a Pixel 7 a few days after launch. Their system said it was fully supported and ready to provision via IMEI check. However, the phone absolutely wouldn't activate via eSIM. So, I ended up porting out to US Mobile to get a working phone after 3 days of waiting for them to sort their stuff (they got it working about 10 days after the phone was released.) Also, a family member recently got an iPhone 14 and we spent 3 days working with Visible support trying to get the line moved from SIM to eSIM on the new phone. We gave up and moved to US Mobile (ported and working in 10 minutes.)

The above activities combined to around 7 hours of chatting with Visible support and ~1 week without service. Their support is atrocious. The only way you can talk to them is via chat queue (no phone, email, or ticket system.) If they escalate your case you'll maybe receive an email response after a few days and there's no way to respond via email (have to start a new chat session.) The agents do little more than walk through troubleshooting steps such as uninstalling/reinstalling the app, resetting phone network settings, etc. When new phones are released the chat queue can take 30-40 minutes and it experiences issues (losing place in long queue after the main visible site logs you out due to timeout is my favorite.)

The cheap bastard in me likes Visible when it works, but upgrading phones and transferring eSIMs has always been painful in my experience. If Verizon works well in your area (isn't oversubscribed) and you don't switch devices often it may be a good match for you. Just pray that you don't have to chat with their support for anything.

If you travel a lot and absolutely need great data everywhere I'd recommend against Visible. I put up with Visible because I have alternative carriers (AT&T, TMo, and Starlink) in my van.

comes with "unlimited" 5G data (actual is 50GB and then it slows down).
I believe it's 50GB without deprioritization. There's no LTE/5G cap that I can see. So during peak times you might get reduced LTE/5G speeds but it's not a 256kbps/128kbps throttle as other networks do. This is true unlimited. The no limit is corroborated by this article https://www.androidauthority.com/...s-1142828/

Also for people who crap on Visible, sorry it doesn't work out for you, but others have great experiences. My Samsung S22+ gets 70mbps and zero technical or customer service issues.

i had 4 phones on visible back when it was $25 for unlimited. It worked fine for us.
I switched to USMobile a couple of years ago because it was cheaper with the perks. I find that we get a bit better download speeds and bit better pings on USMobile.

But for unlimited, it's hard to beat $15.

Just going to chime in with my experience. Have been a Verizon customer for decades. Originally wanted to move my Galaxy S9 over from Verizon (paid off, unlocked) but Visible said it was incompatible. Got their new phone deal, and was able to switch the SIM card over with no issues (there is a Reddit thread on it also). Also you can join the Reddit Visible group for max discount.

Customer service was good. When I had problems, which was often, they were helpful and many times they gave me a $5 credit.

As far as the service, it is limited to LTE which is scarce where I live. I never had so many errors on my phone - actually never had any errors - until Visible. "Awaiting Connection" constantly. Voice calls would drop even on WiFi calls (right around 22 minutes coincidentally). I had one day where I didn't get texts until the next day. Was constantly restarting my phone and resetting the network. This was with my S9 and also the new A12 they sent me. Apparently it is common.

TLDR - it was a nightmare. The savings just weren't worth it. I ended up on the Verizon 5gb pre-paid plan for $40 which after a few months goes down to $30. As soon as I switched back to Verizon all my issues disappeared.
Yes, dropped calls. I thought it was my phone. Disconnected calls, tried to call back but it wouldn't even dial the number. Had to restarted phone and waited for a few mins to be able to call again.

Their customer service is very mediocre and slow to resolve issue. Sometimes they really don't understand what the problem is and just want to do the script and unrelated fixes. The network is solid, because it's Verizon, but the calling isn't and you will experience more dropped calls. I've had periods where I couldn't even make calls. Pricing is great though, can't beat it for Verizon's network unless you have Xfinity. If I ever left Xfinity I'd go back to visible. Their obviously a budget phone company, but they offer good value for the price. Unless you need voice service to 100% always work they're a good choice. Data can get throttled, so once again if you don't have to be the priority it's a good deal. Don't expect Verizon postpaid quality for $25 or less and you'll be happy.

I'm considering switching and compared the 'budget' cell plans. All the unlimited plans are actually unlimited, but they throttle the speed after a certain point and each is different so if you're a heavy data user, do some research and check when they start throttling. I looked for my wife and I, so two lines. Some give a discount with multiple lines and some don't. I was going to switch to Visible but their compatibility checker said my S8 and my wife's S20 were incompatible.. Hopefully this is helpful to someone.

I've never used this service I would not read any single person's comments about the reception being bad or good for that matter and assume it'll be true for you.

How well a service will work for an individual will very widely based on all sorts of factors, proximity to towers, type of house you live in.... If I use a prepaid T-Mobile or AT&t card I basically get no service in my house without Wi-Fi calling. If I use the Verizon based prepaid I get pretty weak service but it works. It's not a big deal for me because I'm on Wi-Fi most of the time anyways, but something like mint mobile does not work unless I'm a good 100 ft away from my house.

But straight talk with Verizon will work in my house intermittently.

But that's just my house, and there are so many variables. It would be silly to assume that just because my sample size of one leads to one conclusion, that it would apply to anyone else. Unless they literally live on the same street as me.

And even then it wouldn't be a perfect apples to apples comparison.

These kind of things are not necessarily universal issues. It's going to vary widely based on where you live and your proximity to towers, and a bunch of other variables. My house gets terrible reception with every carrier whether it's prepaid or major post paid.

But my $30 a month Verizon straight talk plan actually got slightly better reception than my $90 a month. AT&t postpaid plan. It's mostly a moot point as I have Wi-Fi on most of the time anyway.

But the situation could be the exact opposite for other people. Find it strange how many people on slickdeals, assume that their sample size of one means that they can confidently recommend against a certain SIM card for someone that lives in a completely different location.

I mean I could tell everyone that AT&t postpaid service plan is the worst because my experience has been bad. And I could conclude a prepaid sub brand of Verizon is better than AT&t postpaid because that's the case for me inside my house.

But I doubt that would be the case for anyone else because there's so many different variables at play. Unless I'm recommending a plan to someone that lives on the same street as me comment, there's really no substitution for just trying out a SIM card for a month and seeing if it works.

I was speaking from my experience. Since I switched to USmobile (Verizon as well) no issues whatsoever. I'm still scratching my head why such an issues with calls with Visible where they're using Verizon towers. I can somewhat live with throttle internet speed, but the damn dropped calls is the big problem.

Terrible in cities, you will be the lowest priority, and sometimes data will not work.

Same here. Lost service for 3-4 days as soon as I switched. And again it happened when my plan renewed at the end of the first month. I recently got my $200 cashback+ free airpods from the offer and immediately switched back to mint. It took only less than 5 mins for me to get it working on Mint. No customer calls, nothing. It was all online and smooth. Also Visible/Verizon coverage is shitty in my area. Mint/TMobile is for the win!

just noting that you can get 2 lines of Unlimited Basic on USMobile for $30 per line, instead of that 5GB plan. Unlimited Basic comes with 40GB Priority data and 5GB Hotspot. Taxes are not included, however.

I have to reboot my S21 several times a day to get it to work for texts and calls. Have been trying to get them to send me a sim to see if it's the esim; but, instead they spend hours trouble shooting.
