Years ago, someone here posted the best stain removing tip I've ever received, so I'm going to pay it forward: Dampen the stain, add a drop or two of Dawn dish detergent, rub ever so gentle, then wash normally. This has literally never failed me.

DISCLAIMER: I don't have babies, so I don't know if it works on the varied stains they create.

BONUS: You don't have to keep buying a million products. Dawn works on almost everything. Water it down and add some rubbing alcohol and you've got instant Dawn PowerWash too (you can find the exact recipe online).

Good comments. It's all chemistry - Dawn works so well on many stubborn stains because it breaks down oils and fats, which most clothing detergents and oxyclean do not. So many sauces have oils/fats in them, and the staining ingredients are "trapped" on the clothing by these. I lost a few shirts to turmeric in Indian food before I figured that out. Grease splatter from cooking, or a juicy steak? Yep...Dawn first.

Agreed 100%. I always use dish washing liquid to remove stains by dampen it with a little of it for 30 minutes or so and throw it in the wash. Dish washing liquid makes water wetter. If that makes any sense. Haha.

Been doing this for years now. I keep a water bottle with Dawn in the laundry room. I spray stains (and shirt collars) just before a wash.

Actually your advice was on a website but it failed to remove my dog's blood stains on carpet. Shout was the only thing that got the blood stain out

For blood stains, try hydrogen peroxide. This is coming from years of experience as a woman.
