11700k is faster and cheaper for LGA1200, and this is way overpriced compared to any modern offerings like the 13600K but if you're stuck on the 1200 socket, an older chipset that doesn't support Rocket Lake, and have money to burn for an upgrade... I guess?

I'm going to chalk this up to an honest mistake but the 10900K was the fastest cpu that came out on LGA 1200. The 10850K was essentially the same CPU. The 11700k was not faster, especially once you overclocked both cpus. Other than that, I agree, go for LGA 1700 if upgrading on Intel today.

Your second point is the most significant by far. Regardless of any generation label, this CPU is a beast. However, buying into the platform today doesn't represent the best value for money. For those already equipped with a capable motherboard this is a nice discount on the usual retail price if they've been waiting around for an upgrade. Unfortunately, anyone upgrading to this CPU might need to consider the implications to their cooling solution and/or power supply (!).

This sale price definitely reinforces the value in a current Dell Refurbished system:

Good luck!
