There are at least three factors to consider:

Micro Center deals often attract thumbs down on slickdeals because of their limited retail footprint. Though the logic for some might be "if you don't live near MC, just ignore the deal", there are others who tend to approach MC deals as "get this MC deal out of my face".
The Micro Center deal is for a new retail device at an above average price for the range seen on slickdeals (and also notable a price over $100 above the range for the laptops in this deal). Searching for comparable laptops with the CPU model i3-115G4 will identify a typical range of $200-300.
The CPU in the MC laptop deal is an 11th generation dual-core i-series model whereas the laptops in this deal are 8th generation four-core i-series models. Dual-core i-series systems are certainly functional PCs which are also head and shoulders above any of the Atom-based CPU competition. However, four-core i series CPU laptops have historically presented a much better long-term investment as productivity PCs (just ask all the users with aging 4th generation and older i5 systems who don't consider their PC unusable for basic browsing and Office apps).

As much as I'd want to draw your attention to the CPU distinction, for many slickdeals users items 1 and 2 are likely driving the traffic. Honestly, price is probably a bigger factor than I mention since I've seen plenty of objectively good deals at one price get massively overshadowed by the traffic generated by deals on garbage at a marginally lower price. In laptops, this sometimes happens where a nice four-core i3-1125G4 at $250 gets limited exposure but an Atom-based laptop at $199 generates a million "will this run Minecraft?" posts.

As to the CPU distinction I think that really highlights the interesting value of these old Dells. The i3-1115G4 in the newer MC laptop is going to beat the 8th generation CPUs in these Dell laptops in single core performance (easily by 30% or more). The newer i3 would also certainly keep pace with the "bigger" 8th generation CPUs in 2- and 4-thread loads (note that both CPUs are also multi-threaded, so each core handles two threads). However, the additional core capacity means that the 8th generation CPU would still have the potential to pull ahead of the newer i3 in highly multi-threaded loads. This is noteworthy in a world where even internet browsers are multi-threaded. Is one really superior over the other for basic productivity? I'd dare say they're about the same. However, I'd personally give the edge to the four core 8th generation CPU (and really any supported four-core i-series model) for long-term viability as a Windows platform device, especially when both CPU models are included in support for Windows 11 [microsoft.com].

Good luck!

I noticed my "A" grade 7400 2-in-1 battery wasn't holding much of a charge. "A" just refers to cosmetic quality. The Dell BIOS says the battery health is excellent but somebody told me to do run the command: powercfg /batteryreport. It said the design capacity is 52,007mWh My full charge capacity is showing 39,338 mWh for every time I charged it.

I emailed them about it a month after I got it and they said they don't have any replacement batteries so they gave me a link for an authentic OEM one from partspeople which was $80 and said they could refund me $90.

Although this is not Dell Outlet, it is affiliated with Dell. From the FAQs:

Is Dell Financial Services and DellRefurbished.com affiliated with Dell Technologies?
Dell Financial Services LCC (DFS) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dell Technologies, the world's leading online computer systems company.

seems good deal, but you can't expect the battery in good condition. these laptops should be recycled from lease-off.
Can it be returned without paying the restocking fee if the battery is crap? I couldn't find an answer to this question on the website.

I just finished pulling hdds out of about 300 of these and e waste recycling the reset. Well 5480s and this model 5490s.

These are about 5 years old give or take (released 2018) depending on production month. Take it for what you will but understand your getting 5 year old tech.

With hat said they were strong for the daily grind office tasks. Not much wrong with them.

Others have said if the battery health is below 90% you can contact support and they'll sometimes send you another battery.

Jk. It really depends what you do and the application.

2 x 2.6 = 5.2 from where I'm sitting... And yes, I am THAT guy.

why is this has more thumbs up than the micro center HP deal = 15.6" IPS display i3 for $330
The Dell Latitude is business class laptop and more sturdy than home/personal use laptops. HP does make business class laptops (Elitebook, Probook). They are a lot sturdier and a bit heavier but also easy to fix if it's not severely broken. In general it's easier to find parts for also depending on the model. Also business-class laptops/desktops usually come with Windows pro vs home.

Some people like these business class laptops because they have very good build quality. Personally, I would prefer to buy a new consumer grade laptop with a modern processor like the one you mentioned than this refurbished machine.

I actually don't think refurbished is the right way to describe this laptop. It is better described as "a used laptop that has been heavily used in a corporate environment for 4 years, but has been cleaned and inspected for functionality."

FYI. Yeah, they are pretty old. My last job were getting these in at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 to replace older LT's.

True, they emailed me the serial number for the one I ordered (still in transit), and according to the Dell website, mine was first sold in 2019. However, as others have said, they're sturdy machines with a good CPU, so unless you need a gaming laptop, these are more than fine for a software developer like me, or for kids who need a computer for school.
