Sure I did this. Just installed an electrical outlet where the old fluorescent was hard wired in and plugged into the outlet.

This is what I used.

Even cheaper and cleaner would be the butt-plug style that won't leave an open socket if you don't use a secondary bulb.

Thought about those but I like the ability to be able to use the sockets too since I have directional LED panel bulbs in mine. Helps keep the "corners" of the front end of my garage more well-lit since the 4 footers i have get covered up when the garage door is up.

I used these, which I'm very happy with as an alternative to the ones in this deal. They're a 4-pack, 4 foot instead of 3 foot and I liked that they didn't have a chain but still had inline switches to control each light. They're ETL listed as well.

Another note about these, they are bright , -but- they run warm to very warm, don't have experience with many other shop lights, so this may not be an issue, the other shop lights I've used for up-lighting, have the individual led tubes, don't remember the heat on them so they may have been cooler.
Hmmm. I've zip tied these to PVC piping rather than use the included hardware. I feel they are a bit warm. Could they get hot enough to damage the pipe or melt the zip tie?

I just replaced my old 3' fluorescents with a pair of these and they're great. I bought 4 because I didn't think they'd be as good, but they're better. BTW they're still on on sale as of 1/7/23

Is there a way to tell by the shipping weight if they sent you the two pack (vs one)?

I'm guessing no just because its a round surface, I would say its hot like might deform or prematurely age surface, so worth noting.

Thanks for the link. This one is even less https://www.amazon.com/hykolity-L...852BQ?th=1 looks the same. Not having the sensor, or the chain is a big drawback for these lights though, it requires wiring a switch, since they're usually mounted high and no way to reach the switch, esp if the switch is closer to the light than the plug.

I love the ones in this deal. I ordered alot, like over 20, and have given them out to friends and family and only 1 DOA so far.
