Kidde does not have the best quality control: it has made hundreds of thousands of detectors that don't detect.

It's an older style ionization smoke alarm FYI. Ionization alarms aren't anywhere as good as photoelectric ones for the vast majority of types of fires that occur in homes - and they have way more false alarms from things like cooking compared to photoelectric.

A lot of countries and a few states don't even allow them to be sold anymore. Skip this one and just get a photoelectric one.
