I was in Tokyo and Osaka in October. I can't wait to go back…planning Hokkaido and Hiroshima in 2023.

it's not the new standard. AA and Delta are ripping people off. United still have 2 free checked bag for an international flight.

True, but 1 bag and 1 meal is better than no bags and no meal if you're paying about the same for your flight. Also this deal flies into HND which is a little more convenient than Zipair which flies into NRT.

The nickel and diming going on with all carriers is getting a bit ridiculous though. Time to invest in the companies that ship your luggage for you separate from the airlines.

Only one bag tho. Granted, I haven't flown there since 2019 but you used to get 2 free checked bags of up to 50 lbs. Maybe this is the new standard?

Basic economy is only 1 free checked bag on international routes. We're flying to BCN on United and only got 1 checked per person.

This is a good price, but I prefer JAL or ANA over US airlines. I hope price will continue to drop back as they ramp up capacity (# of flights offer).
For travel this fall, would you suggest to jump on this deal or wait for a JAL or ANA deal?

There was no basic economy on my international to Asia. I went twice last year.

delta sounds like a shit plane to ride in.... same with AA.
rode air premia this winter and it was great, new plane, good legroom even on economy.
only downside is there's shit food and barely any drink service. but you can just bring food on or eat before boarding

Agreed. I would actually still prefer the Zip Air deal from a few months ago since it's a Japanese airline and I wouldn't have to worry as much about flight cancellation. I don't get a free check in, but the flight experience will be better compared to Delta or AA.

I flew for about this much on Singapore Air and included two meals and 1 bag pre covid. Can't speak to an international Delta flight but itd wait for one that does include some of these things i mentioned

Delta doesn't have any free checked bags anymore (basic economy) when I flew to Europe recently. But there was a workaround, I found the exact same flight offered by Virgin Atlantic (owned by Delta) for a few cents cheaper, which unlike Delta still had the 1st checked bag included and unlike Delta also allowed selecting seats at time of booking. I don't understand the logic, but in the end it worked out. Too bad Delta is going downhill like most others.

If you want to go, this is the time. Yeah, you'll still have to wear masks anywhere inside in Japan, but the yen has tanked so shopping/dining/travel/etc is pretty inexpensive for Americans currently.

Just be aware, these potential travel dates are the middle of the rainy-typhoon / tsunami season.

However good deal for flying into Haneda.

I think ZipAir still offers a cheaper price. But if you want food/drink and want to bring more luggage or wants miles with the airline this is not a bad deal.
