The VeloCore changes the game with it's OPTIONAL "lean" feature. It will allow you to use your core to balance when you enable it, otherwise it is locked. Also, the numerous features that come ready (without a membership) is fantastic. This one comes with a 12-month JRNY subscription, but $19/mo after that is fine and offers way more features than Peloton. It pairs to my Apple Watch and other Apps like Netflix, etc... My favorite is the "virtual ride along" where you're riding along to a video of some exotic location. All these features distract me just enough to make me forget how much I hate exercising.
If saving money is you're #1 goal, then I think you have your answer: Save Money.
For me, it was all about the balance of features and cost that would help motivate me to use the damn bike. I'm genuinely excited to use my VeloCore, and saving more than 50% was a bonus.
I confess that I have no idea what the current status of competition is, as I got my Peloton back in 2017 when it was basically the only game in town. But what I can speak to is that after getting the peloton primarily for my significant other (I'm a life-long lifter who hated cardio), I've been using the bike consistently for now 5+ years precisely because I unexpectedly found some of the instructors' classes to be entertaining enough to make time fly (and the ones I've gravitated to don't yell, just prepare good class structures and conduct them in a way that takes my mind off the suffering...in a good way).
Of course, to each his own, I just wanted to present a counter to your view for people on the fence.
I'd suggest that anyone looking to purchase such expensive equipment (which I would consider this bike to be despite it being much cheaper than the peloton) should find a way to try the corresponding classes and see which is least likely to end up collecting dust/holding up clothes.
Also this does not have auto resistance like the Echelon, peloton bike+, or nordictracks.
Just a heads up you buying a ic4 with a lean feature and a bad android tablet with a smaller warranty.

Should i get this (16" version for $799) or save some money and get the ECHELON EX4S+ from Costco at $499?
I have never owned an Exercise Bike. I do not plan to keep either subscription. Once it lapses i plan on using third party stuff. I am fine with jailbreaking like i have seen some do on XDA for other Exercise Bikes.
I would prefer one that just connects to a whole bunch of apps and lets me add my own tablet as the screen seems like a waste if I have a tablet.
