You need to use a layer between the cast iron and masa. Some use a zip lock bag, parchment paper, etc

Anything other than corn or flour tortillas is a terrible idea.

Scored one of these on a deal a while back, awesome for corn tortillas, but also work great for flour tortillas with a bit of a hack. Place it on your stove and treat it like any other cast iron and heat it up (seasoning it is a good idea as well), works great!

Allegedly this can be used to make Paleo Tortillas, but how about Atkins Cornbread? Maybe The Firm can resurrect Body By Jake to answer my question...

What's a basic " healthy" recipe? When I was on keto, I bought one of these but never got around to using it. Eventually I got off keto and it was easier to just buy low carb tortillas or regular corn tortillas. Can get 100 pack for less than $5 at costco

Well, fresh tortillas simple taste better. If you're making traditional flour tortillas, making your own can help you avoid the sodium in normal store-bought ones (which are surprisingly swimming in salt). Otherwise, the internet abounds with low carb keto tortilla recipes: https://thebigmansworld.com/keto-...as-recipe/

Don't forget to nixtamalize your corn if you're going super fresh.

This thing is just too heavy for everyday use. I get that's its cast iron and can last for generations, but the aluminum ones are just so much more convenient and easier to move around without damaging your countertops.

IMO I didn't like this item and it is sitting in the pantry for last 3yrs. The flour frequently sticks to the base and lid during press and has high maintenance. Also I didn't find press working very effectively.
