The companion volume to 12 Rules for Life offers further guidance on the perilous path of modern life.

In 12 Rules for Life, clinical psychologist and celebrated professor at Harvard and the University of Toronto Dr. Jordan B. Peterson helped millions of readers impose order on the chaos of their lives. Now, in this bold sequel, Peterson delivers twelve more lifesaving principles for resisting the exhausting toll that our desire to order the world inevitably takes.

In a time when the human will increasingly imposes itself over every sphere of life—from our social structures to our emotional states—Peterson warns that too much security is dangerous. What's more, he offers strategies for overcoming the cultural, scientific, and psychological forces causing us to tend toward tyranny, and teaches us how to rely instead on our instinct to find meaning and purpose, even—and especially—when we find ourselves powerless.

While chaos, in excess, threatens us with instability and anxiety, unchecked order can petrify us into submission. Beyond Order provides a call to balance these two fundamental principles of reality itself, and guides us along the straight and narrow path that divides them.

As someone who is neutral toward politics (both sides are pretty horrible in many aspects), many of the points expressed seem to be fairly helpful in dealing with the hurdles of life.

I always thought the positive reviews were because of people who follow the author's fame (or infamy) so they support his book (like almost every YouTuber out there) but it is genuinely an amazing work. Don't worry about the author or what you hear. He makes very big philosophical concepts and deep human insight accessible to lay people who are genuinely looking to improve their lives. I can't speak as an academic in all fairness, but the author seems genuine in his talent and efforts to educate the reader and leave them better than when they found them in some profound way. I have still to read the next book but it's high on my queue.

I'm convinced that the people who are thumbing down the positive comments and this deal actually have never read or listened to his work. This is an excellent deal! Thanks, OP!

As someone who is certainly not a celibate nor burdened with sadness, I think many will find Peterson to be a principled theologian who strives to bring out the best in people.

And yes, some of his political viewpoints may be controversial. I heard he pushed back against government mandated pronouns in Canada. ((GASP))

Isn't this the guy who was eating an all-beef diet? Even if you don't care about the misogyny, why get wellness advice from someone who so frequently appears visibly unwell?

Wait. Why would people take advice from a guy that doesn't even follow his own advice? Weird. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/jo...-1.5456939
