Reward points change:
The second change is that on February 14, 2023, earning points on eligible Best Buy purchases will become an exclusive benefit of the My Best Buy® Credit Card.
I know that sucks! But tbh I feel like I barely get rewards as a non credit card holder but I personally feel as if free shipping offsets it.
Yes.

This is actually a winner for those who DONT regularly shop there. They even get to save more $ on the spot as a perk versus needing to spend $250 to get a measly perk of $5 reward certificate.

Immediate dividend is what I'm talking about.

Points was one of the key reasons I buy from BBY instead of say, Amazon or directly from vendors like Lenovo.com, Dell.com, etc. Especially for Work-related stuff where I am using a company credit card. Heck, I spent over $50,000 at BBY over 2 years for company stuff: laptops for employees, scanners, printers, desk, etc. even though they were the same price elsewhere -- because of the points I would get.

So, this would dissuade me from preferring to buy from BBY. I'm also an elite and total tech member too, so I already get free shipping. =/
Exactly. The few of us who do this is going to cost them quite a bit of money. I spent a ton here over the years because of points. Switching to Amazon now.

Screw best buy. I returned an unopened chromebook and they gave me a partial refund because they charged $29.99 for some webroot security crap that I never purchased.
Your directing your complaint to the wrong crowd. Tell your state consumer protection agency and you might get some where.

Can someone answer this question about reviews & points?

I noticed that when I'm offered points for a review it says that I would get 25 points for the review AND 25 points if I post a picture with that review.

Does that mean I can get 50 points for each review x 8 reviews = 400 points TOTAL for posting those reviews?

I try to do the reviews thing at the beginning of each year, but I don't recall the extra 25 points for posting a picture.

And now with points ONLY being given if you're a BB cardholder (I'm not), then I see no point in doing any more reviews that would get me more than 250 points ($5 threshold) since I would not be accumulating any more points for purchases moving forward.

Question: can someone tell me how Best Buy prices compare overall to Lowe's? Am considering a stove purchase from each, and possibly getting a store CC…thanks!

I'm wondering too and I submitted all my reviews with pictures. I had to PM them on their forums in the link above, and still waiting for them to post the points.

Please keep us posted if you actually get the total 400 points for your 8 reviews + pictures.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the EXTRA 25 points offered for each picture for each review is NEW for this year. It's probably connected to this rules change since you no longer can earn any points unless you have their credit card.

And so the old offer of 8 reviews x 25 points (which didn't get you to the 250 point threshold for $5.00 unless you made purchases), wouldn't work since now unless you have their credit card, it would be absolutely pointless to do reviews since you'll NEVER get to 250.

I think that's why they're offering an additional 25 points for each picture? So you can at least reach that 250 point threshold to motivate you to still do reviews. And I'm sure they don't want people to all of a sudden just stop reviewing products when I assume a good majority of these people doing reviews are doing them for the points.

Anyways, please keep us posted if you actually get the full 400 points. Thanks.

They told me to wait 20 days and if I still don't see the points, to PM them again. I'll be contacting them on day 21 because I assume the pts need to be in the account by Feb 14 in order for them to convert to rewards.

You will need to buy at least 2 dollars worth of stuff. Dollar values are rounded down so if you buy 49.99 worth of stuff you will only get 24 points and not 25.

The 25 point bonus for including photos on your review (so 25 for the text, +25 for photo) was also already a thing since at least Autumn 2022. Going back through my reward history, I have two from Jan 2022 that were the same date credited, but I can't remember if those were two separate reviews or not. I do recall only bothering to write reviews to combine with those random mystery gift certificates they'd email out. This deadline sucks as I usually put some time and thought into writing reviews and now I feel rushed to do all the remaining ones I have.

FYI. It actually did take just 15 days until my review points got posted. The T&C says 20 days so in reality it seems to take 5 days less as stated.
That's said this is probably the last time I do Best Buy reviews and also last time to use Best Buy points.
