Most are completely missing the point of 8k now. Larger tv, like 85" benefit a lot even with 4k or HD footage due to denser pixels. This is a big advantage today. Of course, if you view anything less than HD, upscaling will be terrible.

I use my TV 90% for HD or higher and this would be an improvement .

Less than 75", pointless now, and if you watch broadcast or many older content, also pointless.

It's niche beyond 8k though and if you're buying a new 85" TV above $2k definitely worth considering this for few hundred more.

If you want OLED, move on. If you want less than 75, move on. But for all those considering flagship QLED, this is tempting.

No reason to bash a deal if its a deal but not for you. That's what I don't get if many here on SD.

I don't use Apple, yet will upvote posts for their products if it's a deal and not a garbage product.

QN800B is a great price for a more than decent product for those in the market. That is the bottom line.

Is future proofing a real thing for tv's? By the time 8k content comes out, new TV tech will exist.

Same price with EPP discount. Bought it today and if you chat with customer service you might get Samsung care+ for 2 years or installation free with promo code.

While it is limited usage, people who makes their own 8k video/content can watch it on this. Many flagship smartphones have 8k video capability.

https://discover8k.com/finding-8k-content/

From 2 years ago. Basically nothing specifically here in America UNLESS you're recording your own content.

I feel you buy this TV for its size and wait a few more years for the 8k…which by then will still likely be a few more years away

the main problem with current 8K is heat. I think a few smaller nm CPU generation will improve that. Also, All 8K is runing 60Hz,, maybe in 2 years it will get to 120Hz.
