Was going to order a couple things, but free shipping does NOT combine with the promo code... It doesn't say that anywhere but it updates at final payment to tack on shipping. @ around $15 cost for me it negates the deal.

Shipping kills it for me too. I really want a 2d or 2c model to use 18650 cells in, but it's just not worth it.

I owned several of the original incandescent Maglites, and loved them all. I subsequently owned 2 of the LEDs, and they are *terrible*.

You can upgrade with only an LED bulb and they work well.

Don't fix what ain't broken. You can store alkaline batteries for years, how long will lithium's last if you are not charging them?

A long time, in my experience with rechargeable cells. Single-use lithium cells have a shelf life of approximately forever.

But! Good luck finding those fancy 18650s (or even just CR123s sometimes) at a corner drug store in a pinch.
