For those with an AMEX Platinum card the $50 Saks credit just re-set for this calendar year.

That would be another $50 off I think?
To be fair Nuobells could have longevity as well, we just don't know yet. They also don't have the funky form factor of powerblocks so it's not strictly convenience vs longevity.
I bought the green version back in 2020. So far I have had no issues, but I always control the movement and have never dropped them. I really like the balance and the feel relative to more boxy options like the powerblock or bow flex. I would just advise to be patient when unwrapping because some of the plastic got stuck between the handles and it took me quite a bit to remove it.

These seem nice, but I would take longevity over convenience and get power blocks

I own these nuobells for about 6 months and they're awesome! I also got the double post stand as well. I highly recommend these. I used to own the bowflex but got too strong for them and sold them. The bowflex are quite a hassle to use but these nuobells are a breeze. These are great prices, get them!!

these have nicer weight selection and grips than my powerblocks, but i'm gonna wait a few more years to see how they're holding up for others before i make the switch. good price, if you're willing to take a chance on the " hard plastic connecting pieces raise serious questions about long-term use"

Did you watch that video? By just normally adjusting the weight, it seems like it's not a matter of if they break, but when they will break. The newer styles of powerblocks (that have all welded connections) will last practically forever.

"seems like" is not really a useful metric. Only time will tell, as I mentioned before we don't know their longevity yet. Powerblocks are already proven, no debate there but the reason people are excited about Nuobells is because of the traditional form factor and speed of use. Is that enough to override unknown longevity, well that depends on the person.

Powerblock's weak point is likely the plastic retainer thing...but likely easy/cheap to replace.

Still, a great deal on Nuobells, which I've never seen significantly discounted like this before.

I mostly agree, I have power blocks. These have the benefit of not having the cage around them though, it's impossible to hold the powerblock dumbbells sideways for pullovers or tricep presses (you can wrap your fingers around but the wrist angle is different) and you definitely can't use them for any of the new popular movements where you strap the dumbell to your foot.

I think concerns over the pin are overblown. And I'm someone who bought spares right away. After a few months of use, I doubt I'll ever need them.

This is a good deal considering these go to 80 vs others in this weight range. I'm committed to PowerBlock, though.

So cool how they save you the time of having to type those two extraneous vowels A and I.
Worth an extra $150 at least.
