To be fair Nuobells could have longevity as well, we just don't know yet. They also don't have the funky form factor of powerblocks so it's not strictly convenience vs longevity.

I bought the green version back in 2020. So far I have had no issues, but I always control the movement and have never dropped them. I really like the balance and the feel relative to more boxy options like the powerblock or bow flex. I would just advise to be patient when unwrapping because some of the plastic got stuck between the handles and it took me quite a bit to remove it.

been researching dumbbells for a couple months as i am in the process of upgrading from bowflex selectech 52.5 lb dumbells. IMO competition at this range is between the nuobells, powerblocks, and ironmasters.

Ironmasters considered most durable (no plastic), highest quality, highest max weight, and feel the most like normal dumbells. However they are the most expensive and IMO they are super annoying to adjust the weight in comparison to the other two options. Dealbreaker for me.

Powerblocks are a better budget option than the nuobells and with potential for more weight. Also don't use as much plastic so believed to be possibly more durable than the Nuobells but that's speculative.

In comparison, Nuobells are by far the easiest to adjust, have a premium feel and design with a knurled handle, and much more traditional dumbell design compared to powerblocks (the block design would prevent some work-outs I would enjoy). It was a close between to these two brands.

I decided to go Nuobells, this sale makes it a no-brainer as they are rarely (if ever?) on sale to this extent. Thank you OP.

I ended up picking up the $300 powerblocks because I don't need over 50 yet, but I plan to soon enough. So expandable was the way to go for me.

That said, I've tried out the nuobells and they feel fantastic. I hear the longevity/warranty concerns, but they are the closest I've felt to using a regular dumbbell set with individual weights with a quick change system.

I was so close to pulling the trigger a week ago when this deal was active.

That's not the weak point. When powerblocks become unusable people aren't complaining about that plastic pin.

But what they DO complain about is the warped plates. If they have the all welded non-pro variant of powerblocks, and they drop them, the plates warp and get stuck to each other. But they're replaceable if that happens. As for Nuobell, once the mechanism breaks.. You're screwed. You can't fix or replace a small piece. Once it breaks it breaks forever.

So basically, no such thing as the perfect adjustable dumbbell lol.

Jealous of anyone who gets in on this deal. Had these for a few months and love them. The stand is also worth it since it makes racking and adjusting a breeze.

I tried the power blocks and didn't like the handles and the feel. That said I also bought the Iron Masters for when I bench or have to put the weights on my legs. These just hurt too much to place them on you if you are going heavy. These are very good for low weight drop sets if your stand isn't too far away. The knurled handles make a night and day difference; you can do the same with power blocks but I wanted that from the start. The only other thing I like about these is I never have to worry about plates falling off. Iron Masters always give me a slit bit of fear. I've never dropped these but I also got the warranty with them. Haven't had any real issues close to a year of use.

Man I need to up my workout game. The fact so many of you need to upgrade to 80 lbs is crazy to me.

Outside of bench press & rows what are you guys using more than 50 for??

Flys, lunges, goblet squats, kickbacks, step-ups, etc.. I think my dumbbells get more use than any other item in my home gym.

I've had the Bowflex 1090's for 3 years and really like them, except when re-racking. The plates don't always go back just right, which means relifting and trying again. Not the easiest when you've gone to failure. Debating on whether it's worth the difference to buy the Nuobell and put my 1090's up for sale. I watched the video review, but has anyone on here used both?

I've had these since 2020 and for this price I'd buy them in an instant. Powerblocks are awkward and as long as you aren't throwing the nuobells around, the nuos will last a very long time. I'd rather save up and buy some iron masters than ever do a pair of power blocks ever again if you want something that's more durable than power blocks
