It's a crappy business model to take away features on a phone and then upcharge people who want them back.
I'm guessing you're using a Fold currently though, I can see where that would be too big.
I always order unlocked phones from Samsung and never got international. So, don't let a rare incident deter you from getting unlocked phone.

My ZFlip3 lasted about a year before the peeling at the crease. It's not the screen though, it's the screen protector. I'd look into it again before doing it yourself but when I looked into it people seemed to say "pull it off it doesn't matter" and that's what I did. Never had any issues after that, but I did trade in for a Zflip4 shortly afterwards so it didn't have more than a month or two of use without the screen protector.

Don't be in a hurry to reserve and cancel/return for the best price. This generally almost always happens and the later you reserve (until around three days to actual release) do you get the best bang for your buck (along with CB)
